Opa, the Greek exclamatory word, is the name and the spirit of the fine-dine restaurant serving traditional Greek cuisine at the Fairmont Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road.
The décor transports guests to the Mediterranean – white walls interspersed with blue accent elements and greenery throughout. To heighten the sense of occasion, the interior features artworks exhibiting the Grecian coastline. The venue can accommodate up to 150 seated diners.
The restaurant serves delectable bites, such as the Calamari, traditional homemade spinach pie or the flaming saganaki. The entrees consist of Greek classic dishes such as the Mousaka, featuring a 48-hour slow-braised beef short rib, complemented by spiced aubergine and potato terrine, with local Kassseri cheese and burnt onion jus.
The restaurant’s signature dish is its traditional Greek Lamb Chops, accompanied by a rich and flavourful Tzatziki. A selection of dishes such as the Peinirli Cheese and Ladenia are prepared in the venue’s stone oven, providing a rustic flavour to each preparation. The dessert selection comprises popular dishes such as the hot chocolate fondant or the Milopita, a spiced apple-filled phyllo pastry.
Opa’s entertainment has become its mainstay – complete with Greek dancers. Their signature plate smashing, after the Greek tradition, has become the highlight of the restaurant’s rich array of entertainment offerings.
The success of Opa Dubai has led to branch openings in Saint-Tropez, Mumbai, Bahrain and a pop-up in Riyadh.
