The Etro Men’s Spring Summer 2021 collections

  • 2 minute read

Live and alive. Etro presented its Men’s Spring Summer 2021 collections with an informal gathering at Milan’s iconic Four Seasons Hotel.

“We are finally back together, in the garden of this iconic hotel, in the heart of Milan’s Montenapoleone district. We want to highlight that we are a family, that Etro is a family living in a world of joie de vivre, colour and positivity. This season, we want to bring to the stage real clothes for real people, discovering a new authenticity. Just what we like, what we think is absolutely relevant, what makes us feel good. Nothing more than this,” said Kean Etro, Creative Director of the Etro Men’s collections.

While the Ensemble Testori Orchestra, headed by artistic director Giulia Sandoli, plays live, models walk on a pebble pathway crossing the hotel’s beautiful garden where breakfast is served for the event’s guests. The atmosphere is relaxed, the mood joyful, and the soundtrack, in homage to late Ennio Morricone, is emotional.

The theme is inspired by the world of travel and is “quintessentially rooted in an idea of extended family.” The show, while paying tribute to the signature Milanese hotel, portrays the different guests of an imaginary international hotel; checking in and out with their peculiar personalities and their wealth of experiences and memories. This season, more than ever, it is not about the final destination, it’s about the journey. The diverse characters exalt the versatile spirit of the menswear collection.

ETRO MEN’S SS21 COLLECTION

Essentials of the fashion house’s creative vocabulary are revamped. Stripes, Madras checks and the unmissable Paisley motif give a distinctive attitude to shirts and deconstructed suits.

Ties, stolen from a vintage archive, complement the sartorial separates exuding carefree elegance. Exquisite intarsia pepper both the denim shirts and the suede jackets, and floral camouflage patterns are all over printed on Bermuda pants and lightweight field jackets. Inspired by rich upholstery, fabrics showing flowers and wild animals are juxtaposed to patchworks with a graphic appeal, while tonal looks in solid colours have a sporty-chic vibe.

In keeping with the brand’s commitment to sustainability, Etro employed eco-friendly fabrics, and also manipulated archival textiles for an exercise in upcycling. All identified by the ‘BENEtroESSERE’ special tag, these unique pieces include patchwork denim pants and jackets crafted from vintage cloths, while shirts made of eucalyptus yarns and polo shirts are realized in a special textile obtained through the recycling of plastic bottles.

Accessories include foldable totes in archival material and cross-body pouches showing the brand’s signature Paisley motifs. We have the colourful lenses of the new Etro x Carrera Collectors Edition eyewear, a unisex re-edition of Carrera’s iconic Champion aviator style, dating back to the Eighties, in a summery colour palette of lemon yellow, intense red, candy pink, forest green, night blue and shiny black.
