Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced the launch of medical services for its guests with pre-existing medical conditions.
As part of the service, Etihad aviation doctor can visit guests requiring medical clearance prior to travel, at their homes or hospitals and conduct an evaluation in consultation with their attending physician. The Etihad doctor will complete all medical forms and assessments on-site and provide a recommendation about their “fit-to-fly” status within a day.
The service also includes having an in-flight nurse who can accompany guests during their trip and provide all the medical support they may require on-flight.
“Etihad is delighted to be the first airline in the region to provide these new medical services which will cater to guests who require medical assistance during their travel. Both services will help ensure our guests have a smooth and hassle-free journey, greatly removing unnecessary anxiety they sometimes feel when travelling.” – Dr. Nadia Bastaki, Etihad Airways’ Vice President Medical Services.
The service, first of its kind in the region, will be carried out by Etihad’s medical team, all of whom are qualified in aviation and transport medicine.
