Jaguar, the iconic British luxury brand, made a striking debut at Miami Art Week 2024, unveiling its transformative design philosophy and cementing its position as a global advocate for creativity. This event, held in the vibrant Miami Design District, marked a significant milestone in Jaguar’s journey, showcasing its new visual identity alongside visionary artworks by British creatives.
Jaguar’s New Creative Era
The highlight of Jaguar’s Miami Art Week presence was the reveal of the Jaguar Type 00, a stunning design vision concept. Far beyond an ordinary concept car, the Type 00 represents Jaguar’s new philosophy of “Exuberant Modernism”—a blend of bold artistry and cutting-edge innovation.
This groundbreaking design features a dramatic silhouette, including a sweeping fastback roofline, striking butterfly doors, and 23-inch alloy wheels. Available in two bespoke colors, Miami Pink and London Blue, the Type 00 harmonizes Jaguar’s British heritage with the vibrant energy of Miami’s iconic Art Deco scene.
Celebrating Art and Design at Miami Art Week
Jaguar used Miami Art Week as a platform to champion British creativity, presenting meticulously curated gallery spaces in two iconic locations:
- Art Miami: As the Official Luxury Automobile partner, Jaguar’s installation, “Jaguar.Exuberance”, explored its reimagined identity through original works by leading British artists.
- Miami Design District – Jungle Plaza: The “Copy Nothing” exhibition celebrated Jaguar’s storied design ethos, merging the automotive world with contemporary art. Featured artists included Ibby Njoya, Campbell Addy, Yagamoto, and Patience Harding, each offering unique interpretations of transformation and reinvention.
Star-Studded Unveiling
The reveal of the Type 00 attracted over 300 luminaries from the art, fashion, and music industries. Notable attendees included Chance the Rapper, supermodels Helena Christensen, Karolina Kurkova, and Devon Windsor, as well as British actor Dominic Cooper and model David Gandy.
Adding to the electric atmosphere, British rapper and DJ Skepta delivered an exclusive 45-minute performance under his label, Más Tiempo presents.
Artistic Highlights by Visionary Creators
Jaguar’s collaboration with contemporary artists demonstrated its commitment to elevating creativity. Some standout works included:
- Ibby Njoya’s “Theory of Colour”: A celebration of the dynamic energy of colors and their power to shape experiences.
- Campbell Addy and Yagamoto’s “Strikethrough Convention”: A short film blending movement and storytelling to capture the essence of reinvention.
- Patience Harding’s “Theatre of Chiaroscuro”: A tactile exploration of light, shadow, and negative space inspired by the Type 00’s form.
Redefining Luxury with the Type 00
Inside, the Type 00 features a modernist interior with dramatic butterfly doors and hand-finished brass elements. A central 3.2m brass spine splits floating instrument panels, while Kvadrat wool-blend upholstery and natural stone accents create a luxurious yet artistic ambiance.
Jaguar’s Chief Creative Officer, Professor Gerry McGovern OBE, described the Type 00 as a “fearless statement” and “an object of desire,” embodying the brand’s vision for a new family of vehicles.
