This year marks 55-Years since the founding of the legendary Mercedes-AMG brand. As part of its special celebrations, AMG has collaborated with the footwear creators at Santoni to craft a special collection. The two brands have partnered since 2005, and this new 55 Years collection breathes new life into the creative relationship.
“This collection is definitely our tribute to our long-term partner Mercedes-AMG on this very special occasion. When we approached this project, we wanted to create something unique, with a very strong personality, even unexpected in a way,” says Giuseppe Santoni.
The Santoni x AMG collection displays meticulous design, bold shapes, and innovation. It expresses ﬁrm character and a strong innovative drive. The range of footwear, for him and her, spans from trainers designed for day and night, both practical and enviably stylish, to exclusive boots.
The volumes are bold, with sporty and high-tech accents, characterized by reﬁned materials and outstanding colours. Sneakers are in soft calfskin with unusual nuanced ﬁnish. Boots are in plain as well as metallic leather with a cutting-edge orange rubber platform sole for a hint of modern and urban attitude.
Racer boxer boots are now reinterpreted and ﬁnished with a contrast rubber cupsole and a padded strap for additional protection around the ankle. “The Racer Boxer Boot is the reinterpretation of the very ﬁrst Santoni for AMG model we created in 2007: a racing shoe, high top, approved and certiﬁed by FIA for professional driving,” Mr Santoni explains. “This Racer Boxer conceived for AMG 55th Anniversary is a more lifestyle and luxury interpretation of the racing attitude.”
Santoni creates each piece by hand with meticulous craftsmanship, and much like AMG, keeps high standards at the heart of what the brand produces. Through championing the ethos of total dedication to the craft at the centre of the company, Santoni shoes have successfully combined traditional Italian style with contemporary fashion, making their way onto red carpets and cobbled back streets around the world.
“Santoni and AMG share heritage and great tradition, passion, obsession for details, innovation and experimentation, and a modern idea of what luxury is,” Mr Santoni continues. “I think AMG has become more and more luxurious, lifestyle and deﬁnitely contemporary. The same is true, in different ﬁelds, for Santoni. We are targeting younger customers, a community of global-minded and cool people who can share our values and be passionate about our stories.
