PCFC Hotels, the operator, as well as the asset and development manager of the QE2 has come up with a summer surprise with a difference for the residents of Dubai. During the summer soft-opening phase, residents can enjoy the QE2 experience as part of a special offer that is valid until 30 September 2018.
The package offers a 15% discount on the best flexible rates available online, complimentary buffet breakfast for two, an upgrade to a higher category room, and a 25% discount on food and beverage throughout the stay.
The former celebrated cruise ship, Queen Elizabeth 2 or QE2 opened her doors to the public once again on April 16, 2018, nearly ten years after the renowned “queen” retired from active service. She no longer cruises on the high seas but can still fulfill maritime fantasies close to home.
QE2’s interior has been thoughtfully restored to its former glory. The primary objective of the project was to recreate her most beloved interior design features such as her period furniture, renowned paintings and famous memorabilia. The original porthole windows have been retained to enhance the maritime feel. A number of her original restaurants have retained their names and décor. Simultaneously, she has also been subtly equipped with all the latest technological amenities.
The QE2 offers a selection of thirteen categories of rooms and suites, starting with the beautifully designed ‘cabin’ style Standard Rooms at 17 square metres, to the Royal Suites at 76 square metres. The two Royal Suites feature a luxurious bedroom, a private veranda, a conservatory, a dining room and highly personalized amenities. However, bookings for these highly exclusive suites is by invitation only.
The restored restaurants include The Chart Room – a sophisticated lounge and bar; The Golden Lion – a traditional English pub; The Pavilion – a family restaurant with a terrace overlooking the marina; Lido – the hotel’s all-day-restaurant; The Grand Lounge – a cabaret-style lounge with a weekly entertainment programme; the Yacht Club – a chic take on the traditional afternoon tea; The Queens Grill – the signature restaurant offers a refined selection of British fine-dining dishes and a tasting menu that recreates a classic selection of dishes from 1969.
For the history buffs, there is the QE2 Exhibition adjacent to the hotel lobby. It is an interactive museum that showcases the QE2 during the height of her glamour in the 1960s when she was a pioneer in design, technology and lifestyle.
The full grand launch is scheduled for October 2018.
