Rooh by Priya opens at Jewel of the Creek, redefining modern Indian dining in Dubai

Dubai’s culinary landscape welcomes a new chapter with the arrival of Rooh by Priya, a modern Indian restaurant and tapas bar opening at Jewel of the Creek. Led by award-winning chef Priya Joseph, the concept reinterprets Indian cuisine through a contemporary, shareable format. Situated along the waterfront promenade, the restaurant blends relaxed sophistication with layered flavours designed for lingering evenings and repeat visits.

Overlooking Deira Creek, Jewel of the Creek represents the intersection of Old Dubai’s heritage and the city’s forward-looking ambition. Against this evolving backdrop, Rooh by Priya positions itself as more than a dining room — it becomes a gathering space shaped by movement, light and water views. From daytime lunches to sunset cocktails, the setting transitions seamlessly throughout the day.

Chef Priya Joseph, recognised among Asia’s leading women chefs and celebrated in Singapore’s dining circuit, brings a global culinary foundation to the project. Her expertise spans Indian, Southeast Asian, Mediterranean and European cuisines, informed by training under Michelin-starred mentors. At Rooh, her focus rests on clarity, restraint and the intention behind every layer of spice.

Central to the concept is a modern spice philosophy that prioritises balance over intensity. Slow-developed masalas, controlled smoking techniques and table-side finishing spices add depth without overwhelming the palate. The result is Indian cuisine that feels comforting yet progressive, refined yet accessible. Each dish is built to be shared, encouraging conversation and collective discovery.

The experience extends into a vibrant tapas bar where pan-Indian bites meet globally influenced cocktails crafted for pairing. Interactive elements, including a chai and dessert trolley, introduce spontaneity and movement. This design invites guests to linger naturally rather than rush through courses, reinforcing the restaurant’s social dining ethos.

Warm contemporary interiors provide a subtle backdrop to the restaurant’s evolving rhythm. Natural light defines the daytime mood, gradually giving way to softened evening illumination suited to family dinners, celebrations and unplanned gatherings. The space is structured to feel welcoming rather than formal, quietly confident rather than imposing.

Rooh by Priya is also proudly woman-led, backed by all-women investors, adding a distinct voice to Dubai’s premium dining scene. Designed around shared plates and shared moments, it reflects the way the city socialises and unwinds. As Rooh opens its doors in February 2026, it introduces an Indian dining narrative built not on occasion alone, but on return.
