Bentley Supersports: A New Era of Driver-Focused Grand Touring

The return of the Bentley Supersports marks a defining moment in the evolution of the modern grand tourer. One hundred years after the first Bentley “Super Sports” roared onto the scene, the nameplate resurfaces with renewed purpose, embodying a deeper, more visceral interpretation of performance luxury. This new iteration sheds weight, embraces rear-wheel drive for the first time in the Continental lineage, and amplifies the thrill of connection between car and driver. It is a bold declaration from Crewe: Bentley is ready to push the boundaries again.

At the heart of the Supersports lies a re-engineered 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, delivering 666 PS and 800 Nm of torque. Unburdened by hybrid components and paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, the powertrain is lighter, sharper, and designed to react with absolute immediacy. The titanium Akrapovi? exhaust, developed exclusively for this model, gives the car a voice that is unmistakably Bentley—rich, resonant, and entirely authentic, without any digital enhancement.

This is the first time a Continental GT has been configured as a rear-wheel-drive road car, transforming the driving experience with newfound agility and precision. A widened rear track, recalibrated eLSD, and an array of re-engineered chassis systems allow the Supersports to pivot into corners with purpose, maintaining poise as power flows cleanly to the rear wheels. Whether in Touring mode or its most aggressive Sport configuration, the car delivers a driving experience sculpted around response, feel, and engagement.

Weight reduction is central to the Supersports identity. Almost half a tonne has been saved compared to the standard Continental GT, achieved through a stripped-back cabin, carbon-fibre roof, lightweight forged wheels developed with Manthey Racing, and extensive use of motorsport-inspired materials. The result is the lightest Bentley in 85 years, yet one that retains the craftsmanship, refinement, and comfort for which the marque is revered.

Aerodynamics take on a more assertive, purposeful character in this model, with a dramatic front splitter, dual dive planes, extended side sills, and a fixed rear wing—each element meticulously engineered to maximise downforce. Combined, the aerodynamic upgrades generate over 300 kilograms more downforce than a Continental GT Speed, reinforcing the Supersports’ status as the most track-capable Bentley road car to date.

Inside, the transformation continues. The Supersports features a two-seat configuration, replacing the rear seats with a carbon-fibre tub that reshapes the cabin into a focused, performance-oriented space. New lightweight sports seats, lower driving position, carbon-fibre trims, and bespoke Supersports embroidery underscore the car’s racing intent. Yet luxury remains omnipresent—from the precision stitching to the blend of leather and Dinamica textures crafted by hand in Crewe.

Limited to just 500 individually numbered units, the 2026 Bentley Supersports represents a rare intersection of heritage, engineering ambition, and contemporary performance culture. Orders open in March, with production scheduled for late 2026 and first deliveries in early 2027. More than a reimagining, the Supersports is a landmark chapter in Bentley’s century-long pursuit of excellence—a grand tourer reborn for drivers who demand emotion, precision, and artistry in equal measure.
