In the serene setting of California’s Carmel Valley, beneath the towering Santa Lucia Range, Bugatti unveiled a creation that transcends the boundaries of automotive design. The Brouillard, the first project under the marque’s new Programme Solitaire, made its global debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering—a stage revered by collectors and enthusiasts alike for presenting the rarest and most significant automobiles.
The one-of-one commission epitomises Bugatti’s vision of automotive haute couture, an intricate interplay of engineering, artistry, and storytelling. Named after Ettore Bugatti’s beloved white and grey thoroughbred horse, Brouillard, the hypercar carries with it a heritage steeped in personal history. Just as Ettore’s horse embodied speed, elegance, and strength, this bespoke machine translates those same qualities into its every line and curve.

At first glance, the silhouette of The Brouillard speaks to a century of Bugatti’s craft in coachbuilding. The fluidity of its Coupé profile, framed by elegantly sculpted air intakes and a sweeping roofline, reflects both aerodynamic precision and aesthetic mastery. A bespoke ducktail rear wing adds drama while ensuring function, underscoring Bugatti’s philosophy that form and performance are inseparable.
Beneath its sculptural exterior lies the legendary W16 quad-turbocharged engine, delivering an astonishing 1,600 PS. For Bugatti, this is not merely power—it is a symphony of precision honed over two decades of engineering innovation. With The Brouillard, the marque presents a hypercar that is as much a technological statement as it is an objet d’art.

Inside, the cabin reveals an entirely different layer of craftsmanship. Horse motifs are embroidered across the door panels and seats, a nod to the car’s equestrian muse. Parisian tartan fabrics are woven into the upholstery, juxtaposed against rich green-tinted carbon fibre and polished aluminium. In the centre, the gear selector is crowned with a delicate sculpture of Brouillard itself—transforming a functional element into a tactile piece of art.
Light floods the interior through a crystal-clear glass roof, imbuing the cabin with cathedral-like openness. It is an atmosphere of refined grandeur, designed to envelop the driver and passenger in both comfort and ceremony. Every surface, every stitch, carries the weight of intention, echoing the bespoke tailoring of haute couture.

Bugatti’s Programme Solitaire represents a new frontier in personalisation. Taking inspiration from the golden age of coachbuilding, when unique interpretations of chassis like the Type 57 gave rise to icons such as the Atalante and Ventoux, the programme offers collectors an unprecedented level of expression. With The Brouillard, this philosophy is made tangible: individuality elevated to its most exquisite form.
Hendrik Malinowski, Managing Director of Bugatti, described the unveiling as “an inspiring moment, and an achievement to be celebrated.” He emphasised how Programme Solitaire is built upon the passion of Bugatti’s most devoted collectors—those who view each commission not just as ownership, but as legacy. With The Brouillard, Bugatti has created a work of art that bridges tradition and innovation, history and futurism.

Following its world premiere at The Quail, The Brouillard will continue its journey to the private showcase of Le Domaine Bugatti, where it will be admired by a select circle of connoisseurs. For those fortunate enough to witness it, the car embodies more than rarity—it is proof that in a world of mass production, the art of the singular still reigns supreme.
As the California sun dipped behind the horizon at Quail Lodge, The Brouillard stood as more than a car—it was a statement of what it means to create without compromise. A vision that merges past and present, tradition and innovation, it is a singular reminder that true luxury is not measured by quantity, but by the depth of meaning embedded in every detail. In this masterpiece, Bugatti has not just honoured Ettore’s legacy; it has redefined what it means to dream in motion.
