Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled a trio of stunning Bespoke commissions inspired by the ancient mural art of Dunhuang, China—showcasing a seamless fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary automotive craftsmanship. Commissioned through the Private Office Shanghai, the collection includes the Phantom Extended, Black Badge Cullinan, and Black Badge Spectre, each incorporating unique details that pay tribute to over 1,000 years of Chinese artistry.
At the heart of this cultural tribute lies the Silken Spirit motif, designed by Bespoke Designer Shuai Feng, which draws inspiration from the flowing forms of imperial silk and the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy. This motif appears across all three vehicles, tying them together through a narrative of heritage and movement. Each motor car also features exclusive Bespoke exterior colours inspired by Chinese landscapes and themes, reserved only for Private Office Shanghai clients.

The Phantom Extended sets a particularly opulent tone with its Ningye Purple and English White exterior—a colour combination rooted in poetic descriptions from Tang Dynasty verses. Inside, a hand-painted Bespoke Gallery on black leather depicts celestial beings, inspired by Buddhist apsaras in Dunhuang mural art. The motif continues with a starry Starlight Headliner featuring 1,344 fibre-optic stars and 192 shooting stars, while the cabin pairs Black and Cashmere Grey leathers with sleek Piano Black and stainless-steel accents.
The Black Badge Cullinan follows with a bold Danqian Pink exterior and Blushing Pink interiors that contrast beautifully with Navy leather in the rear cabin. A Placed Perforation pattern on the front seats mimics shifting clouds above Goodwood, created with over 107,000 micro-perforations. The ethereal Silken Spirit motif also illuminates the Starlight Headliner, glowing softly in pink amidst falling stars—balancing boldness with serenity.

The Black Badge Spectre completes the collection with a dramatic Aero two-tone finish in Qingshan Blue and Diamond Black, accented by an Illuminated Grille in Turchese. Inside, the Spectre features a captivating split interior in Turchese and Black leathers, matched with lambswool carpets and illuminated treadplates. A Bespoke Starlight Headliner and Starlight Doors reinforce its position as a true work of art in motion.
This trio not only embodies Rolls-Royce’s renowned craftsmanship and flair for personalisation, but also stands as a meaningful cross-cultural dialogue—merging the ancient art of the East with the pinnacle of modern luxury from the West. These commissions highlight how timeless narratives can be preserved and elevated through contemporary design language and meticulous execution.

With this homage to Chinese mural art, Rolls-Royce demonstrates the full expressive power of its Bespoke capabilities. The marque reaffirms its dedication to storytelling through design, offering clients the opportunity to honour their heritage and imagination with authenticity, precision, and elegance.
