The AMG Experience for 2024 kicks off, as always, with the Experience on Ice. Set to take place on a frozen lake near the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden, this year’s programme has increased in scope, and in the number of models covered. And, on offer for the first time is the G-Class Winter Expedition.
AMG Experience is a series of exclusive brand lifestyle and driving skills enhancement programmes that include a wide range of training courses and events. The driving skills accommodated range from beginner to master, while experiences range from short trips to luxury adventures.
The programmes include experienced instructors who guide and offer recommendations on how to improve one’s driving technique, first-class accommodation and unique culinary offerings. These experiences, offered throughout the year, are of three types: Racetrack Experience, Lifestyle Experience and Winter Experience.
This year’s AMG Experience is set to kick off on the ice-covered Lake Galtisjaure near Arjeplog, Sweden, between January and March. Numerous handling courses will be prepared on an ice sheet more than 60 centimetres thick, including a track that traces the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring.
The stable base forms the ideal setting for developing a feel for driving characteristics, braking behaviour and steering precision on icy surfaces. Under professional guidance, participants can experience the true capabilities and power of current Mercedes-AMG models. Drivers will learn how to safely control powerful vehicles and delve deep into their technology.
The focus is also on driving pleasure on snow and ice in the wilds of Swedish Lapland. All events include overnight stays in an exclusive 4-star hotel with a sauna and bar. A professional photographer will be on hand to capture the best memories.
To cater to as broad a range of skill levels as possible, from beginners to experts, the programme offers seven courses. There will be three entry-level ‘Performance’ courses offered over three or four days. The two intermediate coerces, called Advanced, are four and five days long. The two top-tier courses are Pro and Pro Plus.
The experiences offered in some of these courses include personalised instructions, performance improvement through data and video analysis, team rallies, experience self-drive with AMG Ice Taxi and the Race of Champions. The portfolio of AMG models on offer this year also includes the brand-new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé, along with 45 S 4MATIC+, C 63 S E Performance, GT 63 S 4MATIC+ 4-door coupé, SL 63 4MATIC+ and the GT 63 4MATIC+ Coupé.
Making its debut this year is the G-Class Winter Expedition. Behind the wheel of the iconic off-road vehicle, participants can discover Sweden off the beaten tourist track. Four days of experience takes participants on varied routes between the northern cities of Arvidsjaur and Kiruna. In the evening, accommodation is offered in top-class hotels.
The programme highlights include driving dynamics exercises, an overnight stay in the Icehotel and a snowmobile tour in the dark. The culinary spectrum ranges from a champagne reception to an exquisite dinner in a gourmet restaurant.
This year’s Racetrack and Lifestyle experiences are scheduled between April and September. The Racetrack events include such icons as Nürburgring and Hockenheim in Germany, while the Lifestyle events are set in various locations in Germany, Italy and Croatia.
