In a pioneering collaboration that bridges the worlds of advanced material science and luxury sound design, Bang & Olufsen has teamed up with British innovation brand Vollebak to debut two groundbreaking creations: the Beosound 2 Vollebak Edition speaker and the Vollebak Spaceshop. The partnership, unveiled at Bjarke Ingels Group’s headquarters in Copenhagen on 25 June 2025, marks a new frontier in experimental design, pushing the boundaries of form, function, and storytelling.
At the heart of the collaboration is the Beosound 2 Vollebak Edition—a sculptural speaker crafted through a revolutionary anodisation technique developed by Bang & Olufsen’s aluminium experts in Struer, Denmark. Inspired by the unpredictable aesthetics of rocket burn, each speaker features a one-of-a-kind finish, created through an intense process of material experimentation that renders swirls and streaks in dark metallic hues. The result is a unique artefact that seamlessly fuses science and style.

Complementing the speaker is the 1000kg Vollebak Spaceshop, designed by Danish space architecture studio SAGA. Constructed entirely of precision-engineered aluminium to match the speaker’s aesthetic, the mobile structure houses Bang & Olufsen’s iconic Beolab 5 and Beosound 2 models, delivering a cinematic, space-inspired soundscape. Designed as a futuristic, off-grid concept store, the Spaceshop reimagines retail as a travelling installation for Earth—and beyond.
To expand the creative vision, the brands also introduced the Vollebak Anodised Jacket, made with polyamide ripstop and fused with a nearly invisible layer of metal using galvanic treatment. This fashion piece mirrors the speaker’s experimental design language and further blurs the lines between wearable technology and performance-driven artistry.

The Beosound 2 Vollebak Edition is priced at €5,000 and is available via made-to-order at vollebak.com. Meanwhile, the Spaceshop installation is set to tour globally, continuing the duo’s exploration of sound, space, and the future of experiential design. This collaboration marks the beginning of an ambitious journey where innovation and imagination collide—setting a new benchmark for both industries.
