Niyama Private Islands Maldives will hold its first-ever Fitness Week this year, between September 21 and 28, hosted by Shaun Stafford.
Niyama Private Islands Maldives offers an abundance of opportunities to create bespoke island experiences because of its twin islands, Chill and Play. The Chill Island, true to its name, offer new depths of relaxation at the Drift Spa, entertainment under the stars at the outdoor cinema, unique fine dining experiences from the jungle to the sea and so much more. The Play Island provides delightful diversions for those looking for more active pursuits.
Shaun Stafford, the host of Niyama’s Fitness Week, is a two-time World Fitness champion, founder of City Athletic London, manager of lifestyle brand GHOST, Men’s Manual ambassador, pro-fitness model, and celebrity trainer with 232,000+ online followers and counting.
The Fitness Week will offer a balance between working hard and playing hard, training and recovery. Whether a fitness fanatic or first-timer, the programme promises to push each individual to attain their personal best.
Each day of the retreat begins with a group workout led by Shaun, followed by one-on-one coaching sessions on two of the afternoons. Participants will also undergo an epigenetic test based on these results, as well as an in-depth consultation.
Shuan will then draw up a personalised six-week training programme that is best suited to their genetic makeup, lifestyle, and goals, which they can continue with back home. Downtime includes a whole day of recovery with stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking, massage and IV therapy at Drift Spa, and a movie under the stars.
Niyama’s twin islands of Play and Chill are the ideal setting for such a retreat. There are long stretches of beach to jog. In addition to the two swimming pools, the pristine ocean waters are ideal for swimming, as well as skiing, boarding, surfing or sailing. There are flood-lit tennis and Futsal courts. The resort’s Pump gym offers a view to inspire and all the equipment needed for a next-level workout.
Throughout the retreat, guests will also enjoy unlimited use of the spa’s hydrotherapy circuit, mingling over cocktails on the beach, and three-course dinners in the treetops at Nest or deep in the jungle at Tribal. The Fitness Week retreat is open to a maximum of 10 participants, with bookings required by September 4, 2024, and does not include accommodation. There is also a programme for accompanying partners who wish to simply relax.
Drift By Niyama, the resort’s spa facility overlooking the Indian Ocean offers solo, couple and family treatments. It has six overwater treatment rooms, and two garden sanctuaries with outdoor baths, rain showers, and daybeds. There is a lime tree garden to relax in, with sauna and steam baths, plunge pools and the Vitality juice bar. Specialities include Codage and Elemis aesthetics, as well as IV drips by Beverly Hills IV Therapy and epigenetics.
Niyama offers 134 villas and pavilions, ranging from one to three bedrooms, located either on the beach or over the waters of the Indian Ocean. The jewel in Niyama’s crown is the magnificent Crescent, a private playground of five ultra-chic pool villas that can collectively accommodate up to fourteen adults and eight children.
Boasting a private chef, two butlers, a housekeeper and a host of complimentary activities including a sunset dhoni cruise and movie under the stars, this overwater sanctuary is the perfect paradise treat for the discerning traveller looking for space and privacy to share with extended bubbles of family or friends.
The eight dining options at Niyama are truly exceptional. Edge is a fine dining venue set half a kilometre out to sea. Subsix offers chef’s tasting menus, private dinners, and Champagne glow parties six metres below the ocean’s surface. Nest serves avant-garde Asian cuisine in the treetops and teppanyaki below in the jungle. Tribal offers safari-style feasting by firelight on African, Central and South American flavours.
Blu is a chilled Mediterranean, family-style dining restaurant overlooking the ocean. Epicure offers morning buffets, live cooking stations, an interactive kitchen and themed dinners. Dune serves light bites, cocktails and shisha on the sand while at Fahrenheit it’s exotic cocktails, sunsets over the ocean, and nights alive with the beat of the DJ.
The resort also offers bespoke destination dining experiences across its two islands. This includes the resort’s spice garden where guests can select the herbs to be prepared by the Executive Chef. Groups of up to 12 persons can also indulge in an exclusive four-course set menu at the spice garden.
Niyama is a premier surf resort of The Maldives with coaches on hand to help improve one’s technique at any level. Beginner classes are held in the resort’s lagoon, while intermediate swells are at Vodi Point – a five-minute paddle out from the resort. Hunting for the biggest pro-level waves is done by seaplane or speedboat.
The Explorers Kids Club, the biggest in The Maldives, is divided into four groups for kids aged one and 12 years. Indoor activities focus on arts and crafts, while outdoors there is a playground, trampoline, splash park and a stage. The daily line-up of fun includes cooking classes, tots’ tennis, kayaking, and treasure hunts among others. Babysitting and Nanny Services are also available.
Arriving at Niyama Private Islands is among the swiftest and safest experiences in the country. The country’s Dhaalu Airport, located in the southern Dhaalu Atoll, is a mere seven-minute private speedboat glide away. As the airport is now authorised to handle direct international private jets up to 111 feet in length, it means the ultimate convenience for those arriving and departing on private jets.
