Surrounded by towering pines and breathtaking alpine landscapes, One&Only Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana, is set to welcome guests from 18 November 2025 and is now accepting reservations. As the brand’s first resort and Private Homes offering in the United States, this ultra-luxury destination offers an unparalleled gateway to Montana’s pristine wilderness. Providing a glimpse into its world-class hospitality, One&Only Sky Lodge opened its doors on 20 December 2024, setting the stage for the grand unveiling of the full resort.

Nestled within an 8,000-acre expanse, One&Only Moonlight Basin occupies 240 acres within the exclusive Moonlight Basin community. A sanctuary for year-round adventure, the resort is located just a short drive from Yellowstone National Park, offering easy access to an untouched natural paradise.
“One&Only has always been synonymous with ultra-luxury and authenticity, crafting experiences that honor the distinct character of each destination,” says Philippe Zuber, Chief Executive Officer, Kerzner International. “With One&Only Moonlight Basin, we bring our signature approach to the American West—seamlessly blending contemporary elegance with the rugged beauty of Montana.”
Serge Ditesheim, an industry veteran with over 20 years of global hospitality expertise, leads the opening of One&Only Moonlight Basin. Having spearheaded the successful launch of One&Only Mandarina in Mexico, Ditesheim is set to introduce the brand’s legacy of excellence to Montana’s vast wilderness.

As of December 2024, One&Only Sky Lodge has been offering an exclusive preview of the One&Only experience. The lodge welcomes both resort guests and the local community to indulge in its refined hospitality, complete with a sophisticated dining destination, The Landing. Featuring a seasonal, locally inspired menu, this dining and bar concept is easily accessible via the One&Only Gondola or by car.
Sky Lodge also houses a dedicated alpine equipment centre, offering premium gear from industry leaders such as Atomic Skis and Salomon Sports. Guests can take advantage of high-performance rentals, complimentary ski and snowboard valet services, and a cutting-edge Wintersteiger Jupiter tune shop for peak equipment performance.
The One&Only Gondola, a seamless extension of the resort’s elegant design, provides direct access to the Madison Base area of Big Sky Resort. With the recent addition of the Madison 8 lift—an advanced eight-seat D-line chairlift—the uphill capacity has doubled, ensuring swift and comfortable access to over 5,800 acres of pristine ski terrain.

Adding to One&Only’s illustrious dining portfolio, the resort is set to welcome a world-class dining concept by Michelin-starred chef Akira Back. A former professional snowboarder turned culinary visionary, Chef Back brings his signature modern Japanese cuisine to Big Sky, marking his first-ever alpine dining venture.
Raised in Aspen, Colorado, and deeply connected to the snow sports culture, Chef Back infuses his passion for adventure into every dish. With over 30 global restaurant locations, his eponymous venue at One&Only Moonlight Basin will celebrate bold flavors, exceptional ingredients, and innovative techniques.
In addition to the Akira Back restaurant, the resort will feature six distinctive bars and restaurants, each designed to capture the essence of Montana’s diverse culinary landscape.
Designed by world-renowned architects Olson Kundig, One&Only Moonlight Basin harmonizes contemporary luxury with Montana’s wild beauty. Thoughtfully crafted guest rooms, suites, and private cabins blend into the landscape, featuring locally sourced materials, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, and artful design elements that pay homage to the region.

For those seeking a permanent retreat in Big Sky, a limited number of One&Only Private Homes remain available for purchase. These residences, also envisioned by Olson Kundig, offer a refined yet rugged sanctuary, providing exclusive access to One&Only’s signature privileges and a global community of luxury travelers.
Situated an hour from Yellowstone National Park and enveloped by a 3-million-acre national forest, One&Only Moonlight Basin is an idyllic destination for nature enthusiasts. Whether it’s hiking, fly fishing, kayaking, mountain biking, or a round of golf in the summer, or skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and Nordic skiing in the winter, guests can immerse themselves in outdoor adventure throughout the year.
“We are delighted to announce that One&Only Moonlight Basin is now open for reservations,” says Mark Kirby, President, One&Only. “This resort redefines luxury hospitality in Montana, offering a seamless blend of refined elegance and unspoiled wilderness. We look forward to welcoming guests to an experience like no other.”
Launching on 18 November 2025, One&Only Moonlight Basin will also feature a state-of-the-art fitness centre and an immersive spa, offering unparalleled relaxation with panoramic views of Big Sky’s awe-inspiring peaks.
