The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi is highlighting the capital’s culinary diversity, world-class cuisine and celebrity chefs with the Abu Dhabi Culinary Season. Running until 14 December, the festival is a celebration of the art and culture of food, focusing on the culinary diversity that helps make Abu Dhabi one of the most exciting places in the world to live and visit.
The Emirate-wide gastronomy festival, set to attract residents and international visitors alike, is hosting a series of foodie-centric events.
The Chef’s Table programme celebrates some of the finest resident chefs across premium and fine dining restaurants across the city, while the Tastemaster Series illuminates the season with Michelin starred chefs who will create signature meals for diners in an intimate, interactive setting.
The Chef’s Table programme is designed to elevate the city’s stature on the global food scene, as the spotlight falls on Abu Dhabi’s very own resident culinary geniuses. The programme provides spectacular dining opportunities for residents and visitors alike to explore a range of cuisine from the city’s top chefs in an interactive setting.
“Abu Dhabi has a vibrant culinary scene, and our objective is to make the city aware of this. Through the Chef’s Table programme, we want to put to the spotlight on the talented chefs behind these offerings.” – Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Acting Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi
Among the participating venues is Sontaya, St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort’s popular Asian restaurant. The restaurant will host the Indonesian leg of the resorts’s ‘Taste of Southeast Asia’ series from December 9 to 13 as part of the Abu Dhabi Culinary Season’s Chef’s Table experiences with a special menu by Executive Sous Chef Wisnu Adiyatma, who will be visiting from Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa. Bringing the local cuisine of his homeland to Abu Dhabi, Chef Wisnu has designed a limited-time menu that will highlight the culinary traditions of Indonesia with signature dishes such as the Ayam Balado, Bebek Betutu and Nasi Goreng Kampung.
For the Tastemasters Series, Michelin-starred chefs from around the world are coming to Abu Dhabi’s already world-class restaurants to serve up gastronomic excellence to residents and visitors alike, and to give diners a chance to have a unique and innovative dining experience.
“Not only is Abu Dhabi known for having top local culinary talent, we are also able to attract visiting celebrity chefs based on our reputation as a food hub, given the caliber of fine dining restaurants in the capital, and the demand for state-of-the-art food experiences by residents.” – Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Acting Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi
