Westin Hotels & Resorts, who have been one of the leaders in the wellness and hospitality industry for more than a decade, have announced the opening of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort. With this, the brand brings its wellness positioning to the Republic of Maldives.
The resort is located on a beautiful coral island in Baa Atoll with uninterrupted ocean and pristine turquoise lagoon views and is in close proximity to landmarks such as the Hanifaru Bay. Inspired by the ocean and breathtaking beauty of the coral island, the award-winning Milan-based architects PEIA Associati left no stones unturned in incorporating environmental sustainability as the foundation of the design.
An aerial view of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort reveals an outline in the shape of a fish, a distinctive reflection of the beauty of surrounding marine life; while the arrival jetty is structured to resemble clamshells and the oceans’ waves.
The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort features 70 villas and suites, 41 on island and 29 over water. Each villa is shaped with an eco-friendly double roofing to create the perfect natural ventilation. Outdoor rainforest showers are included as a distinctive feature. The overwater suites are among the largest in the Baa Atoll region.
With The Pearl which offers exquisite Japanese cuisine, Island Kitchen, an all-day dining combining Chinese, Indian and Maldivian fate and Hawker which serves authentic Asian food with an open kitchen, the resort’s dining experiences are truly unique. There is also a Sunset Bar overlooking the blue Indian Ocean which is a relaxed lounge serving tapas and imaginative cocktails.
The brand’s signature spa concept, the Heavenly Spa by Westin, exudes an intimate and serene ambience and includes a spacious treatment suite for two with a Jacuzzi and panoramic ocean views. For guests that like to stay fit, there is the 24-hour WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio with all gym amenities and an outdoor pool and recreation ground with tennis, volleyball and basketball options.
Guests can also indulge in snorkelling, fishing, diving and parasailing to experience the stunning underwater world. Miriandhoo is a Turtle sanctuary, and guests can easily and often see turtles nesting along the white beaches. Reef sharks, lionfish, manta rays and often whale sharks all reside in the Baa Atoll.
