Inspired by seaside and early 90s Hugo Boss collections, the 2018 menswear spring-summer is a collection that taps into the current mood for relaxed menswear by introducing an informal take on suiting. The tailoring is laid-back, light and airy yet luxuriously crafted. Silhouettes are supple and softly oversized. The palette is dominated by off-whites, with a supporting cast of flint-stone blue, dijon and dark navy. The result is a look that is light, versatile and luxurious.

Double-breasted jackets are cut from lightweight Italian cotton-twill. Round shoulders soften them and are finished with peak lapels and patch pockets. Tailored high-waisted trousers and Bermuda shorts feature pleats to add volume for a wide profile and an adjustable waistband for maximum comfort.

A recurring theme throughout the collection is contrast top-stitching. A pair of straight-leg, pure wool trousers are contrasted with a tonal blue stripe running down the outside leg to add an urban, sporty element to classic tailoring. The trousers are paired with a double-breasted jacket that has piped pockets and gunmetal blazer buttons.

The contrast stitching also outlines navy stretch-wool trousers; single-breasted jackets; a loose, drawstring shirt; a nautical-inspired, casual jumpsuit with boldly embroidered patch pockets whose fluid shape takes its cue from traditional jumpsuits, cut in comfortable stretch-cotton twill.

Accessories take on a neutral palette in keeping with the rest of the collection. Footwear, such as clean Oxford brogues and sneakers, is crafted from bright white canvas with a pop of colour at the sole. A striped canvas belt in grey and optic white features the collection’s signature ‘HBNY’ print for sailor attitude.

Boss menswear makes a case for white-on-white this Spring/Summer. Especially when coupled with signature designs, this crisp, monochromatic palette brings an effortlessly polished feel to the new season.
