Dries Van Noten’s Green Rebellion: A Vanille Camouflage Like No Other

In a world of fragrance where vanilla often plays the familiar tune of sweetness and warmth, Dries Van Noten rewrites the script entirely. Meet Vanille Camouflage, the newest Eau de Parfum in the designer’s avant-garde beauty universe, where a vanilla note is anything but predictable. It’s green, it’s vibrant, and it’s a sensory camouflage—where nature’s rawest elements are transformed into poetic olfaction.

A creative collaboration between visionary designer Dries Van Noten and perfumer Alexandra Monet, Vanille Camouflage is a true artistic rebellion. Monet describes the scent as “so unusual,” marveling at how it captures vanilla in “its very original shape, and so green!” That vision unfolds in a fragrance where verdant galbanum melds seamlessly with two luxurious vanillas—the dark, woody Bourbon vanilla of Madagascar and the creamy, rounded sweetness of Tahitian vanilla. The result is a layered, textured experience: vegetal yet opulent, grounding yet ethereal. It’s not just a perfume, it’s a living, breathing moment of nature captured in a bottle.

And what a bottle it is. Made by Revol in France, the porcelain vessel is a painterly masterpiece in its own right. With a watercolour-style camouflage pattern rendered in deep forest greens, it turns a military motif into something fluid and floral. This duality—rugged yet delicate—echoes through every aspect of Vanille Camouflage. Above the porcelain base, a translucent green glass top completes the silhouette, drawing a direct line between visual beauty and olfactory artistry.

But Dries Van Noten’s innovation doesn’t stop at scent and aesthetics. His fragrances are also rooted in values. With around 90 percent of each formula composed of naturally-derived ingredients and entirely vegan, these eaux de parfum mark a conscious step toward ethical luxury. Sustainability is seamlessly interwoven into the experience: every bottle is refillable, every box made from recycled pulp paper—proof that high design and high standards can coexist beautifully.

This commitment to elegance, ethics, and enduring artistry is what sets Dries Van Noten Beauty apart. Each fragrance becomes a collectible object, meant to be displayed as much as worn. And in the case of Vanille Camouflage, the wear is transformative. It’s not simply about how it smells—it’s about how it makes you feel: bold, unexpected, and entirely in tune with the raw poetry of the natural world.

Vanille Camouflage is part of a quartet of new eaux de parfum launching this year, all available starting August 19, 2024, on driesvannoten.com and in Dries Van Noten stores across Europe. Together, they form a fragrant tapestry that mirrors the designer’s storied career—unapologetically creative, meticulously crafted, and always one step ahead of convention.
