Geneva, November 14, 2024 – The Théâtre du Léman was abuzz with anticipation last evening as Chopard emerged as a double laureate at the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) 2024. Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele took to the stage twice, receiving accolades for the Maison’s exceptional achievements in the ‘Jewellery Watch’ and ‘Eco-Innovation’ categories.

The ‘Jewellery Watch Prize’: A Celebration of Artistry

Chopard’s Laguna Secret Watch captivated the jury with its dazzling display of haute joaillerie craftsmanship. This extraordinary timepiece, composed of 116 multicolored shells, ethical gold, and adorned with colored sapphires and topaz, conceals a natural pearl beneath an exquisite shell-shaped cover. Its intricate design, crafted over 1,000 meticulous hours, is a testament to Chopard’s legacy of creating wearable masterpieces.

As Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele expressed:
“Jewellery watches have been a specialty of our family Maison for many years. This award is a great honour for our artisans and my sister, Caroline, whose vision as Co-President and Artistic Director continues to elevate our craft. The Laguna Secret Watch inspires dreams and emotions while showcasing craftsmanship at its finest.”

The ‘Eco-Innovation Prize’: A Commitment to Sustainable Luxury

Chopard’s unwavering dedication to sustainability shone brightly with the win in the ‘Eco-Innovation’ category for the L.U.C Qualité Fleurier model. Crafted in Lucent Steel™, a material with a recycling rate of at least 80%, the timepiece exemplifies the Maison’s pioneering approach to responsible luxury. Chopard’s commitment to using 100% ethical gold in its gold watches and jewellery and its active participation in the Climate Group’s SteelZero initiative further solidify its role as a leader in sustainable practices within the luxury industry.

Speaking on this accolade, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele remarked:
“The Eco-Innovation Prize is significant, not just for Chopard, but for the global visibility it brings to sustainability. While we are proud of our pioneering efforts in sustainable luxury, our greater aspiration is to inspire the industry to adopt similar practices for a better future.”

A Legacy of Excellence at GPHG

These latest awards add to Chopard’s storied history at the GPHG, an event often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of watchmaking. Since its inception in 2001, the competition has celebrated exceptional achievements in contemporary horology, with Chopard notably winning the coveted ‘Aiguille d’Or’ Grand Prix in 2017 for its groundbreaking L.U.C Full Strike minute repeater.

The GPHG is a hallmark event, uniting the watchmaking world to honour the artistry, tradition, and innovation of horology. Chopard’s dual wins this year reaffirm its position as a visionary in the realms of fine watchmaking and sustainable luxury, inspiring the industry and collectors alike.

These accolades are a testament to Chopard’s enduring legacy, where artistry, innovation, and responsibility converge to redefine the boundaries of haute horology.
