SAU LEE, the globally celebrated Chinese fashion brand known for its distinct blend of heritage and sensuality, has unveiled the Ming series—its latest artistic evolution and a bold entry into the world of handbags and footwear. Launching this July, the Ming Bucket Bag and Ming Suede Sandals are a refined expression of craftsmanship, culture, and design innovation, each adorned with the newly introduced Ming cut-out monogram.
The monogram draws inspiration from the ancient Chinese Lucky Coin (?? g? qián), a symbol steeped in meaning. Representing heaven with its circular shape and earth with its square center, the coin’s geometry echoes the Chinese philosophy of natural harmony. SAU LEE reimagines this powerful motif through contemporary fashion, creating a symbol that exudes quiet confidence, cultural reverence, and modern artistry.

Both the bag and sandal are offered in timeless tones of mocha and black, chosen to seamlessly accompany wardrobes from the city to the sea. The Ming Bucket Bag is crafted from premium cow leather with intricate laser cut-outs of the Ming monogram. Featuring a removable cotton pouch and an adjustable crossbody strap, it is the epitome of structured elegance and all-day utility.
The Ming Suede Sandals, meanwhile, channel a more relaxed sensuality. Their calf suede upper is artfully punctuated by the Ming monogram, resting atop a breathable raffia base. The sandal’s sculptural silhouette and lightweight form make it the ideal companion for summer days spent meandering through sun-drenched streets or lounging poolside in understated luxury.

At the heart of the Ming series is SAU LEE’s evolving design language—a visual narrative that began with its now-iconic pipa knot braiding and continues with the monogram’s cultural symbolism. Founder & Creative Director Cheryl Leung describes it as “an invitation to engage with Chinese heritage in a meaningful, modern way.” These are pieces designed not only to be worn, but to be experienced and appreciated on multiple levels.
