Porsche Redefines Automotive Artistry at Monterey Car Week 2026

At the 2026 Monterey Car Week, Porsche once again asserted its dominance in the realm of high-performance luxury, presenting a curated selection that bridged the gap between historic reverence and contemporary innovation. From a bespoke factory one-off that pays homage to racing legends to a manual-transmission purist’s dream, the Stuttgart-based marque transformed the California coast into a gallery of engineering excellence and emotional storytelling.

The undisputed crown jewel of the showcase was the Flachbau RS, a road-legal masterpiece born from Porsche’s Sonderwunsch programme. Created in collaboration with Manthey, this “slantnose” marvel is a modern reinterpretation of the legendary 935 “Moby Dick.” Based on the formidable 911 GT2 RS with the Weissach Package, the Flachbau RS features a Grand Prix White finish and a dramatic three-tier headlight arrangement, representing nearly three years of meticulous development and wind tunnel validation.

For the driving enthusiast who values engagement above all else, Porsche unveiled the 911 Carrera S with a six-speed manual transmission, an offering exclusive to the North American market. Responding to the passionate demand of the region’s collectors, this 480 PS model combines a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine with rear-axle steering and PASM Sport suspension. It is a car designed not just for speed, but for the tactile connection between driver and machine.

The brand’s presence in Monterey also celebrated the whimsical intersection of automotive design and cinema. The beloved Sally Carrera, inspired by the 911 (996) from Disney and Pixar’s Cars, made a nostalgic appearance alongside three new one-of-one creations. Inspired by Toy Story 5, these bespoke models—a Buzz Lightyear-themed 911 GT3 RS, a Jessie-inspired 911 Targa 4 GTS, and a Woody-themed 911 Carrera T—showcased the boundless creativity of the Sonderwunsch department.

Beyond the aesthetic allure, these Toy Story-inspired vehicles serve a noble purpose. Each car was developed to support charitable initiatives including Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the American Red Cross, underscoring Porsche’s commitment to social responsibility. By blending extreme performance with philanthropic storytelling, Porsche’s showing at Monterey 2026 stood as a testament to the brand’s enduring cultural impact and its dedication to the art of the sports car.
