The Monterey Peninsula once again set the stage for automotive excellence as Bentley unveiled its latest design vision, the EXP 15, at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Marking its public debut, this striking three-door, three-seat grand tourer is not destined for production but rather serves as a powerful statement of intent—offering tantalising hints of Bentley’s first fully electric car and shaping the marque’s future design language.
Drawing inspiration from history, the EXP 15 pays homage to the legendary 1930 Speed Six Gurney Nutting “Blue Train” Sportsman Coupé. Like its iconic predecessor, the concept features three seats, reinterpreted for modern luxury with innovative in-cabin storage for both hand luggage and even treasured pets. The imposing proportions, with an endless bonnet line, upright grille, and rearward cabin, seamlessly blend heritage with forward-thinking innovation.

At the heart of the EXP 15’s presence are five key exterior design principles that will inform Bentley’s future grand tourers. Upright Elegance defines the bold fender profile; the Iconic Grille is reimagined for the electric age; the Endless Bonnet Line recalls Bentley’s most revered silhouettes; Resting Beast embodies a muscular stance ready to surge forward; and the Prestigious Shield frames a newly envisioned Winged B emblem. Collectively, these elements outline a design DNA that could only ever belong to Bentley.
Robin Page, Bentley’s Director of Design, described the concept as a “strong statement of intent” and highlighted the importance of Monterey Car Week as a proving ground. “The visitors include some of the world’s most discerning collectors and enthusiasts. Feedback from Pebble Beach will directly inform the design evolution of our next generation of electrified grand tourers,” he explained. Under the California sun, the EXP 15 dazzled as both a bold vision of tomorrow and a tribute to 95 years of craftsmanship.

The debut also offered a rare reunion: the original 1930 Speed Six “Blue Train” special travelled from Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe to stand proudly beside the EXP 15. The juxtaposition of past and future was captured along the iconic 17-Mile Drive, where both cars embodied the spirit of timeless performance, elegance, and innovation that defines the brand.
Monterey marked Bentley’s first concept showcase at Car Week since the EXP 100 GT in 2019, which commemorated the marque’s centenary. Now, with EXP 15, Bentley signals a design journey that looks beyond the present—toward a sustainable, electrified era. While the car itself will not be built, its influence will resonate across the next generation of Continental GTs, Flying Spurs, and Bentaygas as Bentley progresses towards its Beyond100+ strategy of becoming exclusively electric by 2035.

As EXP 15 returns to Crewe and takes its place at Bentley’s newly opened, state-of-the-art Design Studio, it carries with it the essence of Monterey: heritage intertwined with future ambition. More than just a concept, EXP 15 represents Bentley’s commitment to creating luxury grand tourers that honour their past while daring to shape the future of mobility.
