The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom has redefined the limits of electric maritime performance, setting a new speed record at the prestigious Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. Blending Austrian boatbuilding craftsmanship with Porsche’s high-performance electric drive technology, this striking day cruiser achieved an average speed of 49.84 knots (92.3 km/h), outpacing all competitors and establishing itself as a new benchmark in sustainable marine innovation.
The record-breaking run took place during the 12th edition of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, an internationally recognised platform dedicated to advancing zero-emission propulsion technologies. Supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the event is a proving ground for real-world performance, where participants must demonstrate both speed and efficiency over a measured kilometre.

The boat presented in Monaco was no prototype but a fully standard production model, finished in Porsche’s Oakgreen Metallic Neo with a sleek closed foredeck. Competing in the Open Sea class, it triumphed over an elite field of international contenders, underscoring its superior engineering and design.
Prince Albert II himself took a keen interest in the vessel, receiving a personal tour of the eFantom from Stefan Frauscher, Managing Director of Frauscher Bootswerft. This royal endorsement added to the prestige of the achievement, highlighting the growing relevance of high-performance electric mobility in the maritime world.

Powered by an extensively adapted version of the electric drive system from the Porsche Macan Turbo, the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom combines an 800-volt architecture with up to 400 kW of output. This results in exhilarating performance on water, with top speeds of approximately 90 km/h in Sport Plus mode and seamless versatility across four driving modes: Docking, Range, Sport, and Sport Plus.
Charging capability is equally advanced, supporting DC fast charging up to 270 kW and AC charging at 11 kW. Range varies from approximately 100 km at slow cruising speeds to 45 km at a steady 41 km/h, ensuring both leisure and practicality.

Visually, the boat retains the elegant lines of the Frauscher 858 Fantom, while offering buyers a choice between the closed-foredeck Runabout and the open-bow Air configurations. Inside, meticulous attention to materials and craftsmanship reflects both brands’ commitment to luxury and functionality.
Manufacturing takes place at Frauscher’s facility in Ohlsdorf, Austria, with Porsche supplying the drive system and high-voltage battery as pre-assembled modules. This partnership leverages the strengths of both companies: Frauscher’s mastery of marine construction and Porsche’s expertise in electric performance engineering.

As Jörg Kerner, Vice President of the Porsche Macan Product Line, noted, “This record proves that Porsche E-Performance delivers exceptional results not only on the road but also on the water.” With this achievement, the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom has not only set a record but also set the course for the future of luxury, sustainable boating.
