At Dubai Watch Week 2023, Reuge unveiled a mechanical Camel Race automaton as “an ode to the unique and magical nature of the Middle East.” Specially developed for this event, Reuge is offering a modern and region-specific take on the classical Escalado Mécanique horse racing game.
The Camel Race automaton game is based on the mechanics developed for Reuge’s ‘Milarius’ horse racing and ‘Racing Legend’ F1 car racing games. It has now been adapted to represent the sport of camel racing which, since 2020, has been part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage.
The mechanics of the game offer an entirely power-driven haphazard race experience, while the winner is greeted by the sublime harmony of 144 mechanical notes. The runners can be randomly placed according to the wishes of the audience.
The Camel Race automaton has a 41-minute power reserve, which means the running of several races without having to wind the mechanism. In line with the new values promoted by Reuge since its acquisition by independent watchmaker De Bethune last February, this timepiece is all about fun, lightness, play and sharing.
