Paris, the city of passion, the city where innumerable artists have found inspiration over the years, now plays muse to one of its own. S. T. Dupont, the French manufacturer of luxury lighters, pens and leather goods, has called Paris home since its founding in 1872. Now, the brand has dedicated its latest collection to Paris, the city where the brand’s creative heritage lies. Available since June, the collection contains four beautifully designed pieces: a lighter, fountain pen, roller pen and ballpoint pen.
Paris is synonymous with all that is French. Paris is celebrated for its architecture, museums, bridges, cathedrals, parks, shopping, sidewalk cafés, luxurious boulevards, elegant cuisine, and monuments. The Paris collection will have successive themes – to be released subsequently – that will celebrate each of these qualities.
The first theme, however, celebrates its distinct and beautiful city plan. Here, the bird’s eye view of Paris, as seen on a street map, inspires an innovative pattern called Paris Carte. On the “Carte,” one can find the Place Vendome – the epicentre of art, Opera Garnier where the Phantom of the Opera excels, the new S. T. Dupont store marked with a cross precisely at 10 rue de la Paix, and we have “Ile de la Cite” – the birthplace of Paris.
The pens of the Paris Carte theme fall within the new Line-D range meaning they offer new detailing such as engravings on the new nib, new top and new clip. The overall quality is “much higher” than previous models according to the brand. Several personalisation options are also available.
As always, handcrafted in France, the pens in the Paris Carte theme are made of 100 per cent solid brass. The cap is finished in Palladium. The nib is 14k solid gold with the blazon engraved. Its ink feeder technology prevents the ink from drying out. Each nib is checked by hand. The barrel is finished in natural lacquer. Around 150 handcrafted operations and controls are required to produce each of these pens. Each pen boasts the signature S. T. Dupont articulated clip, which traces its origins to the original S. T. Dupont trunk.
For the fountain pen, ink cartridges are available in black, royal blue, turquoise, red and green. The ink bottles are available in black, royal blue as well as a box of mixed coloured ink bottles. For roller ball, refills are available in Fiber tip refills in blue and black fine and blue and black medium while roller ball refills are available in blue and black.
