Red Sea Residences has announced Laheq, a private island community set within Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea destination. Positioned as the first island developed specifically for residential ownership, Laheq introduces a nature-connected lifestyle where thoughtful design, wellness, and oceanfront living come together.
Set to open in 2028, Laheq expands the Red Sea’s growing appeal beyond hospitality, following the debut of five luxury resorts and the Red Sea International Airport. This island marks a major step in the destination’s next phase, offering residents direct access to one of the world’s most unspoiled marine ecosystems, including the fourth-largest barrier reef globally.
The masterplan for Laheq, designed by Foster + Partners, takes inspiration from the natural environment. At the centre of the island is The Ring — an 800-metre architectural structure housing boutique hotels, residences, and curated retail, all oriented around a peaceful lagoon. This ring-shaped hub reflects the island’s broader approach: seamless integration of luxury, landscape, and community.
Residences across Laheq are designed to blend with the island’s coastal charm. Natural materials, shaded garden courtyards, and open-air spaces foster a calm and airy aesthetic that mirrors the surrounding seascape. A marina with 115 berths and on-site sailing and watersports schools offer direct access to the water, while inland activities include a sports field, golf course, fitness facilities, and a racket club. A souq and selection of beach clubs and restaurants round out the lifestyle offering, with culinary concepts spanning from relaxed beachfront dining to refined international cuisine.
Laheq will also host two luxury hotels – one focusing on wellness and the other on sociable, experience-led hospitality – providing unique options for residents and visitors alike.
Aligned with the larger Red Sea development’s sustainability goals, Laheq is built with regenerative principles in mind. The broader initiative includes the planting of 50 million mangroves and extensive coral reef conservation, and the entire destination is on track to be powered by 100% renewable energy.
By 2030, the Red Sea destination will include 50 resorts, more than 1,000 residences, and multiple inland experiences.
