A paradise of wellness within a luxury tropical island is the best way to describe the Eveylaa Wellbeing experience at Velaa Private Island resort in the Maldives. Situated within the resort’s Wellbeing Village, this sanctuary of health and vitality invites guests to rejuvenate and transform themselves through a combination of ancient healing rituals and cutting-edge technology.
Meaning ‘ancient’ in the local Dhivehi language, Eveylaa is grounded in the healing wisdom of the past while harnessing the latest scientific advancements. Each Eveylaa wellness journey begins with a complimentary Ayurveda consultation which focuses on balancing the three Doshas of the body via a personalised diet, herbal medicines and bespoke body treatments.
Following the consultation, guests can continue their Ayurvedic journey with authentic rituals specially selected for their needs, including calming Shirodhara warm oil therapy, soothing herbal poultices, and the rejuvenating Abhyanga four-hand massage, which culminates in a herbal steam session to revitalise and cleanse the channels in the body.
For those seeking to improve their mobility and reduce muscle tension, Eveylaa is also home to a state-of-the-art Osteopathic Clinic. The Resident Osteopath assesses the specific needs of each client and creates a programme of therapeutic massage and gentle manipulation. This is designed to ease the pain while promoting realignment throughout the body.
The osteopathic session finishes with a float in the Dream Pod, a sublime, Epsom salt-filled pool that invites guests to completely switch off from the world. The act of floating in a warm, serene environment helps cut off all external stimuli and fully relax the muscles to enter a state of deep relaxation.
Eveylaa also offers contemporary wellness treatments that begin with detailed consultations, and include blood and food sensitivity analysis, private sessions with a Naturopathic Nutritionist, and the InBody Analysis test, designed to provide a greater understanding of the body’s composition and its physical needs.
Eveylaa’s integrated wellness programmes – spanning five, seven or ten days – target Sleep and Stress, Rejuvenation, Detoxification, and Fitness and Weight management. The Panchakarma Bio Purification Programme, which lasts 14 to 21 days, is a personalised Ayurvedic detoxification experience designed to deliver complete purification at a cellular level.
Complementing the wellness offering at Eveylaa is the extensive array of Yoga and Meditation sessions. Led by experienced instructors and visiting practitioners, the classic Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga classes are complemented by Dhyana (guided meditation), Praanayama (breathwork), and Yoga Nidra, a form of ‘yogic sleep’ that invites a deep sense of relaxation. Yoga and meditation classes take place in the dedicated open-air pavilion, a serene thatched-roof space that encourages guests to connect with the surroundings.
At the heart of the Velaa wellness experience is the resort’s newest restaurant concept, Faiy, where gastronomy goes hand in hand with the holistic treatments at Eveylaa. Meaning ‘leaf’ in Dhivehi, Faiy showcases well-balanced and nutritious meals made exclusively from natural, unprocessed ingredients.
Dedicated wellness menus include the ‘Fresh’ menu of raw and plant-based dishes with Asian flavours, and the light ‘Spa’ menu features low-carbohydrate, vegan, gluten-free, and Mediterranean-style fine dining. Overlooking the lush expanse of the Velaa Golf Academy by Olazabal, Faiy promises an intimate atmosphere for private moments in paradise.
Velaa Private Island is nestled within the constellation of islands that form the Noonu Atoll in the Maldives. The resort was designed by award-winning Czech architect Petr Kolar as “an elegant fusion of Maldivian culture with contemporary luxury, intimate with Maldivian nuances.”
Velaa, meaning “Turtle” in the local language, pays homage to the sea turtles that flock there to nest and hatch. From a broader “bird’s eye view,” which greets arrivals by seaplane, the island’s exclusive over-water villas are also constructed to resemble the head of a turtle, with the island forming the body. The resort comprises 47 private villas, houses and exclusive residences. While 18 of the 47 are built over water, the Romantic Pool Residence can only be reached by boat, allowing even more privacy and exclusivity.
