The Outlierman – the Bologna-based atelier and manufacturer of handcrafted luxury driving accessories – is now an official “24 Hours of Le Mans” licensee.
The three-year collaboration will result in different limited-edition capsule collections, including ties, pocket squares, silk and cashmere scarves, leather helmet bags, wallets, and swim shorts. The first of these limited-edition capsule collections comprises three ‘24 Heures du Mans’ driving gloves: Arnage, Mulsanne and Tertre Rouge.
Technically speaking, The Outlierman’s agreement is with Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), founded in 1906, and currently with around 20,000 members. The club organised the first-ever Grand Prix in 1906 and introduced the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923.
Today, it contributes to the organisation and promotion of the FIA World Endurance Championship and instigated the European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series. Aside from the world-famous Le Mans 24 Hours, ACO circuits host the 24-hour motorcycle race (24H Motos), the French motorcycle Grand Prix, the 24-hour go-karting event and the 24-hour truck race (24 Heures Camions).
The Outlierman was created by Andrea Mazzuca and Eleonora Dazzani in Bologna in 2015. A small, passionate team of 10 people designs each item in-house. All items are handcrafted by highly skilled artisans in Italy, in workshops located between Naples and Como. The Outlierman produces collections for discerning drivers, which include driving gloves, scarves, ties, bow ties, braces, pocket squares, bags and document cases.
For ACO, The Outlierman’s limited-edition capsule collections will draw inspiration from the most emblematic moments and symbols of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the world’s oldest active endurance race event. Andrea Mazzuca, Founder of The Outlierman, said: “We at The Outlierman are incredibly proud to be partnering with the historic and renowned 24 Hours of Le Mans. This new collaboration fills us with immense pride and marks a huge milestone for the brand.
“Each design we create will be a chapter of a great story to remember, to collect, and will reflect the moments that make the 24 Hours of Le Mans the most unique race in the world and in history. We also can’t wait to be part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans centenary celebrations next year and have big plans in place for the occasion.”
The three ‘24 Heures du Mans’ limited-edition driving gloves are the first products to result from the ACO x Outlierman collaboration. Arnage 24 Heures du Mans – in “Italy White,” “Racing Red,” and “Tour De France Blue” – combines the grip of suede with “rock ‘n roll stitching,” Hand-sewn, it bears the official 24 Hours of Le Mans logo and a tribute to the Arnage Corner.
Mulsanne 24 Heures du Mans – either in Tour De France Blue, Racing Red, and Italy White, or in Hyper Black, Racing Red and Italy White. A long linear track of small hand-sewn waxed thread, which stands out in contrast to the soft Nappa lambskin, evokes the most famous straight of the famous endurance race. Contrasting leather inserts in the iconic colours of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and a leather tab with the race’s official logo, lend an unmistakable sporty touch.
Tertre Rouge 24 Heures du Mans are fingerless driving gloves inspired by the highest point of the racetrack. Presents in Racing Red, Italy White and Tour De France Blue – the iconic colours of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the gloves are enhanced by the leather tab with the official logo of the competition. The stitching and the Nappa lambskin inserts are designed to complement the finger profiles and edges.
The new 24 Hours of Le Mans license agreement is The Outlierman’s latest in a portfolio of current and past collaborations, which include the likes of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Pagani, and Mini John Cooper Works.
