Bally, the Swiss luxury fashion brand’s Spring-Summer 2023 collection features a broad range of stylish and sophisticated pieces for men. The first designed by the brand’s American Creative Director Rhuigi Villaseñor, this collection blends classic and contemporary designs. It is a cosmopolitan exploration of European luxury through a distinctly American lens.
Villaseñor approaches Bally’s DNA as a leathergoods atelier with a lightness of hand, and historical nods to the worlds of sports and cinema abound throughout the collection. Daywear and eveningwear collide in a wardrobe that exudes the confidence of the well-travelled.
The colour palette is predominantly neutral, with shades of black, white, and beige dominating most pieces. Meanwhile, pops of colour in select garments – vibrant shades of blue, green, and orange – add a refreshing touch to the overall collection.
The broad assortment of materiality includes tiger print suiting in silk velvet, double-breasted tailoring in summer wools, and shantung silk pyjamas. Crafted in Villaseñor’s hometown of Los Angeles, engineered denim meets myriad expressions of Bally leather craftsmanship, from butter-soft suede to polished calfskin, stretch nappa, and opulent metallics. Heirloom wardrobe pieces emerge in unexpected colours and combinations, from classic aviator jackets to louche tailored suits, trench coats, and safari-inspired separates.
In a nod to the Swiss traditions of watchmaking and toy-making appear chains and chokers, buckles and bag hardware. A new stylized figure-8 device of interlocking ‘B’s inspired by the Bally tradition of elastic-making becomes a striking emblem scaled up and down as a decorative flourish throughout the collection. The assortment of footwear also embodies the season’s transatlantic spirit with playful details, from crystal mesh boots to embellished house slippers.
