Inspired by the 1970s and framed by the glitter of the night-time Manhattan skyline, Saint Laurent unleashed their menswear collection for spring-summer 2019.
Anthony Vaccarello, the Italian-Belgian creative director at Yves Saint Laurent, envisioned an urban macadam cowboy; a seventies spirit evoked by short jackets paired with high-waisted trousers.
The venue was New Jersey’s Liberty Park, the backdrop was the Manhattan skyline at night, and open scaffoldings complete with a black marble floor formed the set for the catwalk.
“New York is freedom, a city brimming with energy and possibilities: the perfect backdrop to frame the spirit of this menswear collection. Crossing wardrobe boundaries, dressing women too” said Anthony Vaccarello.
The setting was appropriate for a palette dominated by black; skinny black jeans accented black leather, detailed blazer in black and contrasts, suede jackets, and more. Intricate embroideries and refined textures emphasize the sharp attitude of the collection.
