In the heart of northern France, Les Eaux Primordiales has established itself as a name synonymous with artistry, individuality, and authentic luxury. Founded in 2015 by Arnaud Poulain, the Maison redefines the language of perfumery, presenting each creation as an intimate expression of identity.
Born in Arras in 1986 to a family of artisans, Poulain’s journey was shaped by curiosity, boundless creativity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. After years immersed in independent perfumery, he envisioned a house that would not simply follow convention but elevate the craft into something timeless, rooted in both heritage and innovation.

The Manufacture of Les Eaux Primordiales stands within a historic château, nestled in a 14-hectare wooded park that once belonged to the Société d’Exploitation des Mines de Charbon du Nord Pas de Calais in 1850. Today, the site breathes new life as a beacon of French savoir-faire, uniting tradition with modern design. Every bottle produced carries the imprint of this dedication, with every stage—formulation, maceration, and bottling—executed with meticulous artistry.
More than perfumes, the Maison’s creations extend into candles and art furniture, furthering its ethos of total craftsmanship. Poulain describes himself as an “olfactive architect,” building each fragrance not only on the foundation of raw materials but also through dialogue with art, science, and architecture. His inspirations are as diverse as the photographic work of Bernd and Hilla Becher, the minimalist philosophy of Dieter Rams, and the sweeping curves of Oscar Niemeyer.
The Domaine Primordial, as Poulain calls it, is more than a physical site—it is a place where perfume is seen as an alchemy of memory, emotion, and artistry. Through carefully curated videos and manifestos, he invites audiences into his world, encouraging them to explore their own ambitions with equal passion.

At its core, Les Eaux Primordiales represents a belief: that perfume is the most beautiful expression of individuality. In an industry often dominated by mass production, the Maison offers something rare—an uncompromising commitment to authenticity and imagination.
In less than a decade, Les Eaux Primordiales has become a touchstone for connoisseurs who value both heritage and forward-thinking design. It is a testament to the idea that true luxury lies not only in what we wear, but in how deeply it connects to who we are.
