In a dazzling reinterpretation of its poetic complication, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces the 2025 edition of the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star, a timepiece that blends celestial mystery with refined feminine artistry. This new version, limited to just ten pieces per design, showcases exquisite peony motifs hand-painted on sapphire dials — a true celebration of craftsmanship, romance, and horological innovation.
First launched in 2022, the Shooting Star complication pays tribute to one of the sky’s most elusive spectacles. Unlike the predictable movements of stars and planets, shooting stars appear without warning — brief, brilliant, and deeply romantic. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s engineers rose to the challenge of recreating this random phenomenon, crafting an in-house automatic calibre 734 that activates the shooting star display at unexpected moments with the flick of a wrist.

This year’s update is presented in two pink gold (18k) variations: one adorned with blue peonies and the other with pink. Both versions feature three intricately layered discs. The top layer, crafted from transparent sapphire, serves as the artist’s canvas, where nine lacquer shades bring pink peonies to life, and twelve shades illuminate the blue. Every stroke is painted by hand, requiring up to 110 hours of precise, uninterrupted artistry. Painted on both sides of the dial, the blooms create depth, dimension, and photo-realistic delicacy.
The second layer of the dial reveals a mother-of-pearl disc airbrushed in celestial hues. It houses a laser-cut shooting star, which rotates to momentarily expose a third metallic disc beneath — simulating a burst of light streaking across the sky. Framing this magical movement is a crescent of brilliant-cut diamonds embedded into the sapphire, reinforcing the timepiece’s sense of wonder and refinement.

On the wrist, the two variations make distinct statements. The pink peony model dazzles with a fully diamond-set pink gold bracelet, boasting 625 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 6.31 carats. The blue peony edition is paired with a rich alligator leather strap, its case and dial sprinkled with 189 brilliant-cut diamonds, offering a subtler yet equally luxurious appeal.
Beyond aesthetics, the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star represents a significant technical achievement. With 335 parts, the calibre 734 defies horological convention by integrating randomness into precision. This blend of unpredictability and control not only exemplifies Jaeger-LeCoultre’s legacy of innovation but also reaffirms its poetic vision — where time is not only measured but imagined.

By combining mechanical ingenuity, artistic mastery, and celestial inspiration, the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star emerges as more than a watch — it’s a fleeting wish captured in gold, lacquer, and light. For those drawn to timepieces that tell stories as much as they keep time, this limited edition marvel is a testament to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s unrelenting pursuit of beauty and complexity.
