Abu Dhabi, UAE, 5th November 2024 – In a groundbreaking collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons launched the first-ever ‘Mavericks of Time’ exhibition, an immersive showcase that pays tribute to the artistry of Swiss independent watchmaking. This inaugural event took place on November 2-3 at Space42 Arena in Abu Dhabi, drawing attention to the emirate’s expanding influence in the luxury retail sector.

The event gathered 15 prestigious watch brands known for redefining horology through ingenuity, skill, and innovation. Among the featured brands were Bovet, Chronoswiss, De Bethune, Gerald Charles, Girard-Perregaux, Greubel Forsey, H. Moser & Cie., HYT, Laurent Ferrier, MB&F, Ressence, Speake Marin, URWERK, Ulysse Nardin, and Vyntage Horology. These brands, recognized globally and regionally, showcased their timepieces that emphasize unique craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, setting a new standard for luxury watch exhibitions in the UAE.

The exhibition itself was designed as an immersive journey through the history, present, and future of watchmaking. One highlight was the “time capsule experience,” a series of themed exhibits illustrating various eras of horological evolution. Visitors were invited to engage with interactive installations and explore the deep heritage and forward-looking innovations that define these remarkable timepieces.

“Mavericks of Time is a new concept that celebrates independent watchmakers who are masters of their craft, design, and technology driving today’s high-end horology. With this first-of-its-kind concept, we curated an immersive environment where visitors had the opportunity to interact with brands in a dynamic, hands-on manner, transcending luxury experiences in the capital Abu Dhabi,” said Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, CEO of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons.

Noura Al Foulathi, Head of Abu Dhabi Retail at ADIO, emphasized the event’s importance to the emirate’s luxury ambitions. “Celebrating high-end craftsmanship is a key aspect of our vision to promote Abu Dhabi as a luxury hub, and ‘Mavericks of Time’ exemplifies this commitment. By partnering with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, we are pleased to offer an extraordinary platform for Swiss watchmakers to showcase their artistry and vision. With this event, we have further solidified Abu Dhabi’s status as a leading destination for luxury and innovation.”

Following its success in Abu Dhabi, ‘Mavericks of Time’ will travel to Dubai, where it will be hosted at the Museum of the Future from November 8-10. The exhibition is free for all attendees, inviting both established watch enthusiasts and curious newcomers to immerse themselves in the world of fine horology. Visitors can register for attendance online to experience this showcase of Swiss watchmaking at its finest.
