In a remarkable continuation of their creative partnership, Bugatti and Jacob & Co. have once again pushed the boundaries of horological art—this time with the introduction of the Bugatti Calandre table clock. With the prestigious Lalique crystal house now in the fold, this extraordinary piece of design, engineering, and artistry is more than just a timekeeper—it’s a collectible sculpture that unites the worlds of haute horology and luxury craftsmanship.
Crafted over a meticulous three-year research and development process, the Bugatti Calandre marks a striking shift from traditional wristwatches to a new format: a table clock that tells time as much as it tells a story. A story of legacy, innovation, and material mastery that stretches across centuries and industries. The name “Calandre” is a nod to Bugatti’s French roots, evoking the iconic horseshoe grille design that has become synonymous with the brand’s DNA.

Jacob & Co. references this automotive iconography with remarkable depth. The grille houses a vertically mounted flying tourbillon—an advanced horological complication originally designed for precision in vertically positioned clocks. In the Calandre, the complication not only serves its technical purpose but visually echoes the aerodynamics and performance heritage of Bugatti’s latest hyper sports car, the Bugatti Tourbillon.
Adding further sophistication, Lalique lends its renowned crystal expertise to the piece. Crafted in the Alsace region of eastern France, the Lalique case encapsulates decades of artistry and innovation. The molten crystal is cast into intricate steel molds, then hand-finished over months to achieve an unmatched level of clarity, texture, and light play. The final result: an elegant case where two sculpted crystal elephants, inspired by Rembrandt Bugatti’s original Dancing Elephants, lean toward the dial in symmetry—a direct homage to both Lalique’s historical designs and Bugatti’s artistic heritage.

The Bugatti Calandre’s clock movement, the JCAM58 caliber, is entirely custom-developed by Jacob & Co. It includes 189 individual components, operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and delivers a generous eight-day power reserve through manual winding. Setting and winding the timepiece is done with a specially designed key, inserted through the rear of the crystal structure—a discreet nod to traditional craftsmanship.
Topping the timepiece is a 30 mm red gemstone, crafted with Jacob & Co.’s patented Jacob Cut, which features 288 facets and a near-spherical shape. This bold flourish not only mimics the color of the Bugatti Macaron badge but serves as a bridge between high jewelry and horology, further distinguishing the Calandre from conventional luxury pieces.
