Corum has launched two limited editions of its iconic Bubble model in honour of the Year of the Dragon – Bubble 47 Dragon and Bubble 47 Dragon Eye.
The Bubble collection – inspired by the brand’s former chairman Severin Wunderman, and based on an experimental diver’s watch of the 1960s – has become an icon of the brand thanks to its distinct design and domed crystal. The two new Year of the Dragon models are both limited to 88 pieces each.
Both models are equipped with the CO 082 automatic movement, beating at a frequency of 4 Hz and offering a power reserve of 42 hours. The cases, 47mm in diameter, are made of stainless steel with a black PVD finish, have sapphire crystal case backs, and are presented with vulcanized rubber straps.
Corum Bubble 47 Dragon
The centrepiece of this “Bubble Dragon” watch is its exceptionally elaborate dial, which narrates the legend: “When dragons hear thunder, they rise; The clouds are coming, and having all formed, the dragons ascend and thus circulate in the sky.”
The dial evokes a deep night sky, represented by a black sunray base and adorned with a delicate representation of the moon made of mother-of-pearl. Above the dial, between mystical black clouds, a golden dragon hovers majestically, symbolizing the power and grace associated with this legendary creature.
Corum Bubble 47 Dragon Eye
This exceptional timepiece finds its uniqueness in the detailed depiction of the dragon’s eye on its dial, an emblematic representation of strength and power. This detail is meticulously crafted by hand using the metal casting technique. This artisanal approach makes it possible to create exceptional relief, impossible to achieve by conventional means.
Each eye is then coloured, while the golden scales are revealed by hand, giving each watch an artistic singularity. The domed sapphire crystal of the watch – characteristic of the Bubble collection – offers a magnifying effect that allows one to fully appreciate the finesse and precision of the artwork.
