In a masterful fusion of Swiss precision and desert-born poetry, ID Genève unveils the MorphoDune Seddiqi 75th Anniversary Edition — a timepiece created to honour Seddiqi & Sons’ remarkable 75-year legacy as the Middle East’s foremost curator of fine watchmaking. Limited to just 20 numbered pieces, the watch becomes a meditative study in contrast: the quiet grandeur of the Arabian desert rendered through the ultra-modern lens of nanotechnology. In its restrained 37 mm silhouette, it captures both the spirit of an evolving region and the innovative energy of a young, sustainability-driven Swiss maison.

The dial serves as the watch’s emotional core — alive, shifting, and sculpted by light. In collaboration with Morphotonix™, a Swiss start-up renowned for its microscopic optical engravings used in passport and banknote security, ID Genève transforms the metal surface into a canvas of nanostructured dunes. Without ink or pigments, the dial reveals a spectrum of iridescent reflections that ripple as the wrist moves, echoing the desert’s natural choreography at sunrise and dusk. Subtle Arabic-inspired geometry emerges within the pattern, while luminous Arabic numerals glow softly after dark, like constellations above a sleeping landscape.

Shaped entirely through an ink-free nanoprinting process, the dial offers a rare encounter between ancient geology and cutting-edge engineering. It communicates emotion through texture and light, turning the simple act of checking the time into a moment of visual contemplation. Designer and artistic director Singal Depéry describes the piece as “a dialogue between tradition and innovation,” and indeed, the MorphoDune feels like an heirloom from the future — deeply rooted, yet forward-facing in its technical philosophy.

This sense of harmony extends to the case and bracelet, both crafted from 100% reprocessed 316L stainless steel, a material ten times less impactful than its conventional counterpart. At 8.8 mm thick, the watch maintains a slim, architectural elegance that sits naturally on the wrist. The integrated bracelet, handmade in Le Locle, features semi-elliptical brushed links inspired by rolling sand waves, producing subtle flashes of light as the arm moves. A discreet accent of spiritual blue — a colour woven into centuries of Arabic culture — adds a talismanic touch, symbolising peace, protection, and connection.

Inside, the MorphoDune carries a refurbished Swiss-made ETA 2892 movement sourced from unused stock — a deliberate choice that reflects ID Genève’s circular philosophy. Robust, repairable worldwide, and endowed with a 42-hour power reserve, the movement underscores the maison’s commitment to longevity and responsible creation. It is mechanical watchmaking with conscience: built to endure, serviceable for generations, and crafted entirely within Switzerland under fully traceable supply chains.
