Gerald Charles Unveils the Maestro 2.0 Meteorite, Transforming Cosmic History into Horological Art

Gerald Charles opens a new chapter in its design narrative with the Maestro 2.0 Meteorite, the Maison’s first meteorite timepiece to feature a small-seconds indicator. Shaped through the unmistakable Maestro case architecture, the watch elevates material into message, turning a fragment of the cosmos into a contemporary expression of craft and imagination.

Across the dial, a dramatic story unfolds: the split-second collision of a meteorite with Earth, captured in metal and motion. The concept echoes the creative spirit of Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, who approached the dial as a stage for artistic storytelling. Here, force and transformation are rendered visible, animating the surface with tension and energy.

Two executions interpret this celestial narrative differently. The Black model embodies the explosive instant of impact, revealing flashes of red beneath dark meteorite through sculpted apertures, while a fiery gradient small-seconds display pulses at six o’clock within a Darkblast steel case. The Silver model reflects stillness after the detonation, pairing a silver meteorite dial with gold accents in a polished steel case, evoking crystallised calm.

The meteorite itself originates from the Muonionalusta fall in northern Sweden, estimated to be over 4.5 billion years old. Rarer on Earth than gold or diamonds, it presents formidable technical challenges, being highly ferrous and extraordinarily hard. Only electro-erosion can shape it into the Maestro’s complex geometry, with each fragment preserved in protective liquid to prevent oxidation.

Designer Octavio Garcia conceived a striking dual-layer construction: a thin meteorite slab rests above an anodised aluminium baseplate, pierced with radial apertures that reveal the coloured foundation below. Roman numerals appear subtly displaced, as though shifted by the shockwave itself, while the sculptural small-seconds display animates the ongoing expansion of the blast. The result is a dial that feels alive, charged with perpetual motion.

Inside, the Swiss Manufacture Caliber GCA2011 powers the watch, delivering automatic precision with a 50-hour power reserve. Finished with colimaçon, côtes de Genève, and perlage, the movement maintains the Maison’s dedication to refinement beneath the surface. Encased in stainless steel and limited to 100 pieces per execution, the Maestro 2.0 Meteorite balances technical performance with narrative depth.

More than a debut material, the Maestro 2.0 Meteorite reflects Gerald Charles’ philosophy of reshaping history into individuality. By sculpting a billion-year-old meteorite into wearable form, the Maison fuses ancient cosmic origin with modern horological design. It is not simply a timekeeper, but a fragment of the universe, transformed into art for the wrist.
