The unveiling of the Maestro 9.0 Tourbillon Tiger’s Eye marks a defining moment for both Gerald Charles and Ahmed Seddiqi, two names that continue to shape the contemporary landscape of horology in the region. Presented in Dubai, the limited-edition release stands as a tribute to the enduring friendship between Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi and Gerald Charles CEO Federico Ziviani, bringing together 75 years of Seddiqi heritage and the 25-year anniversary of the Swiss watchmaking maison. Only three pieces will be produced, elevating the Tiger’s Eye edition into the realm of true collector exclusivity.
At first sight, the glimmering Tiger’s Eye dial becomes the soul of the timepiece — an arresting natural stone known for its golden chatoyancy and hypnotic depth. Historically admired in 1970s watchmaking and jewellery, the material takes on a contemporary expression through Gerald Charles’s refined technical interpretation. Each dial is carefully carved using diamond-tipped tools and shaped through a meticulous selection process that ensures only the most structurally sound, visually harmonious pieces are chosen.

This minimalist dial, absent of indices or a minute track, marks a bold departure for the maison. The unadorned surface allows the natural brilliance of the stone to fully command attention, encapsulating the brand’s philosophy of “minimal baroque.” The purity of the dial contrasts with the architectural richness of the iconic Maestro case—its flowing, baroque-inspired contours framing the stone like a work of art.
Another first for Gerald Charles is the new Colormix finish that envelops the stainless-steel case in a warm bronzed-brown tone. Achieved through a proprietary blend of chemical and physical processes, the finish has been specially reinforced for external wear. Its earthy hue is echoed across the polished buckle and paired with a sand-toned vulcanised rubber strap, creating a visual harmony that mirrors the UAE’s desert palette.

Precision remains at the heart of the Maestro 9.0 Tourbillon Tiger’s Eye. The in-house calibre GCA9000 powers a tourbillon positioned at six o’clock, nestled within a bespoke titanium cage shaped after the Gerald Charles logo. A 22K rose gold oscillating mass engraved with the maison’s honeycomb pattern ensures efficient winding, while a stop-seconds mechanism enhances accuracy—details that underscore the maison’s dedication to mechanical excellence.
Despite its complexity, the timepiece maintains a remarkably slender profile, with the movement measuring just 4.8mm in thickness. Finishing techniques such as colimaçon, Côtes de Genève, and perlage add depth and character to the calibre, reflecting the hand-finished mastery expected from the brand. The result is a watch that blends sculpture, engineering, and natural beauty into a seamless whole.

More than a commemorative collaboration, the Maestro 9.0 Tourbillon Tiger’s Eye stands as a symbol of shared vision — one that honours heritage while embracing contemporary creativity. With only three pieces available worldwide, the edition is destined to become a cherished artefact for collectors, embodying the values that unite Ahmed Seddiqi and Gerald Charles: craftsmanship, authenticity, and the pursuit of timeless elegance.
