Hublot and acclaimed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami have elevated the fusion of contemporary art and high watchmaking with their latest creation: the MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow. This timepiece, limited to just 20 pieces, encapsulates Murakami’s iconic “smiling flower” in a sapphire-crafted marvel that exudes both playful artistry and technical prowess. Building on a partnership that began in 2021, the MP-15 Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow brings Murakami’s art to life through a pioneering central tourbillon movement by Hublot.

A Celebration of Art and Innovation

The MP-15 tourbillon marks the evolution of Hublot and Murakami’s collaboration, which has previously seen groundbreaking releases and charity auctions. Murakami, known for his “Superflat” art movement, unites Japanese artistic heritage with modern culture, vividly captured in the MP-15’s twelve-petaled, sapphire flower. The petals, with polished titanium inlays, are set with a gradient of 444 vibrant gemstones, including rubies, sapphires, topazes, and tsavorites, meticulously arranged to mirror Murakami’s dynamic color palette.

Revolutionary Watchmaking Meets Sculptural Design

Central to the MP-15’s artistry is the HUB9015 central flying tourbillon—Hublot’s first central complication—visible through a domed sapphire crystal engraved with Murakami’s trademark eyes and smile. This highly complex mechanism redefines traditional movement construction, powered by a manual-winding caliber with an impressive 120-hour power reserve. To streamline winding, Hublot has designed a custom stylus for the crown, making the MP-15 a rare combination of art and innovation. Surrounding the tourbillon are two hand tips positioned beneath the cage, ensuring a clear, intuitive reading of time. The movement visible beneath a domed sapphire crystal, creates a mesmerising floating effect for a touch of elegance.

A Limited Collectible for Art and Watch Aficionados

A truly exclusive masterpiece, the MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow is available by request at Hublot boutiques and select retailers worldwide, a testament to Hublot and Murakami’s commitment to avant-garde luxury.
