In an inspired continuation of their cosmic watchmaking journey, Roger Dubuis and world-renowned tattoo artist Dr. Woo return with the third installment of their visionary collaboration—the Excalibur Monotourbillon Dr. Woo Episode III. This latest creation takes collectors and connoisseurs on an imaginative voyage into deep space, capturing the essence of time through artistic symbolism, intricate mechanical transformations, and galactic storytelling.
More than just an exercise in aesthetics, the new Monotourbillon merges the expressive DNA of Dr. Woo’s minimalist, single-needle tattoo style with Roger Dubuis’ groundbreaking horological prowess. Each element of the design, from celestial icons to complex tourbillon mechanics, speaks to a shared ethos of innovation and individuality. Crafted as a statement of technical mastery and artistic imagination, the watch becomes a canvas for storytelling on a cosmic scale.

This episode draws inspiration from Messier 51a—better known as the Whirlpool Galaxy. Its spiral arms echo the movement of a tourbillon, creating a thematic link between the cosmos and the mechanical. From the spaceship etched on the sapphire glass, bearing the message “We Come in Peace,” to laser-engraved nebulas and a spiral-shaped “black hole” component, the entire timepiece is a narrative of discovery and imagination, inviting wearers to transcend boundaries of design and time.
Further enhancing the storytelling, signature icons from previous episodes reappear. Dr. Woo’s symbolic spider, mysterious language of engraved symbols, and his recurring spaceship motif all return in refined detail. The spiral decor, echoing the Whirlpool Galaxy, is now physically embedded into the watch’s architecture, while the new barrel design at 1 o’clock rotates slowly to mimic planetary motion, creating a visual meditation on time’s passage.

Mechanically, the RD515 calibre has been subtly transformed to accommodate the collaboration’s thematic vision. A flying tourbillon now features a minimalist three-arm upper bridge, sculpted to resemble a cosmic spiral, while hand-finished decorations meet the rigorous standards of the Poinçon de Genève. The barrel’s celestial motif rotates, evolving with the watch’s motion and offering a glimpse of the galaxy from new angles throughout the day.
The case, a rare and luxurious combination of 18K pink gold and titanium, frames the intricate dial within a 42mm housing that balances weight, prestige, and durability. The engraved symbols across the bezel and bracelet links act as cryptic markers of Dr. Woo’s universe, encouraging personal interpretation and emotional connection.

With only 28 pieces available worldwide, the Excalibur Monotourbillon Dr. Woo Episode III is more than a timepiece—it is a wearable sculpture that celebrates artistic exploration, mechanical excellence, and the profound connection between humanity and the stars. A testament to the power of collaborative creation, it affirms Roger Dubuis’ status as a trailblazer in expressive high horology, continuing to reshape the limits of what watchmaking can be.
