In an audacious blend of horological artistry and cosmic allure, Louis Moinet’s latest masterpiece, the STARMAN, embodies both the mysteries of the universe and the pinnacle of watchmaking craftsmanship. Conceived by Jean-Marie Schaller, Owner and Creative Director, the STARMAN features a fragment of the Jbilet Winselwan meteorite— a rare stone that contains amino acids, the very building blocks of life itself. This extraordinary watch celebrates the notion of life’s cosmic journey, transforming a timepiece into a silent guardian of the stars.
The Jbilet Winselwan meteorite, discovered in the western Sahara Desert, is showcased on the upper part of the STARMAN’s dial, contrasting visually with the intricate tourbillon. The meteorite’s storied past, dotted with brown minerals, is paired with a dial constructed from Gibeon meteorite, meticulously dyed a deep blue through a proprietary process. A second sapphire crystal disc, hand-painted with a star map, overlays this base, creating a three-dimensional stellar scene that illuminates at night, pulling the wearer into an immersive cosmic experience.
For those intrigued by the mysteries of the solar system, the STARMAN offers another celestial marvel: a precise hand-painted chart on the case back, displaying the planets’ positions as they appeared on March 21, 2013—the date Louis Moinet was formally recognized as the inventor of the chronograph.
Engineered with a flying tourbillon in an off-center cage, the STARMAN’s complex movement features a unique “volte face” system with two parallel barrels, generating an impressive 96-hour power reserve. Available in two limited editions of twelve pieces each, in 18-carat red and grey gold, the STARMAN is a celebration of the highest form of horological art, bridging the realms of time and space.
This limited edition is a tribute to Louis Moinet’s legacy of invention and exploration—a timeless testament to the spirit of discovery embedded within this iconic brand.
