The Ford GT 40, sporting the orange and blue livery of Gulf Oil, achieved its first victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the year 1968.
To mark 50 years of this glorious win, TAG Heuer launched TAG Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Special Edition, as well as a 50-piece limited, engraved edition of the Monaco Gulf.
This comes just a few months after TAG Heuer announced a global partnership deal with Gulf Oil International, one of the most legendary sponsors of motorsports. Both the models bear the signature Gulf codes of orange and blue.
TAG Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Edition
TAG Heuer Formula 1 is synonymous with performance and speed. The movement is accurate to a tenth of a second – an indispensable feature in a motor racing watch – displayed on the small counter at 6 o’clock, with the minute counter at 9 o’clock and the current seconds counter at 3 o’clock. The case-back has the Gulf logo engraved. This model features a blue leather strap with orange stitching for a sporty, stylish look.
The model is priced at $ 1,600.
Monaco Gulf 50th Anniversary Edition
TAG Heuer also launched a 50-piece special limited-edition of the Monaco Gulf. The watch with the famous 39 mm square case has a petroleum blue dial in addition to the instantly recognisable colours of Gulf. The 50 pieces of the watch are individually numbered on the case-back (XX/50) and include Gulf’s anniversary emblem too. In continuity with the “Gulf-inspiration”, the MonacoGulf 2018 features a blue perforated leather strap with orange stitching.
The model is priced at $ 6,350.
