Loro Piana’s Spring/Summer 2025 Eyewear: A Vision of Innovation and Artistry

In the realm of timeless elegance and innovation, Loro Piana continues to redefine luxury with the launch of its Spring/Summer 2025 sunglasses collection. Crafted with extraordinary savoir-faire, each pair is a masterclass in artisanal precision and refined aesthetics—an accessory made not merely to shield the eyes, but to complete the silhouette of the modern sophisticate.

The collection is a result of the Maison’s collaboration with Thélios, the eyewear virtuoso of LVMH. This union blends heritage craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, yielding a series of sunglasses that are as technically advanced as they are artfully designed. Entirely handmade in Japan and Italy, the new line reflects a philosophy of excellence, where every material, every detail, and every step in the production journey is held to the highest standard.

Drawing on its storied legacy in textile and tailoring, Loro Piana names each eyewear model after its iconic garments. The André, the Icer, the Roadster, the Spagna, and the limited-edition Traveller sunglasses are each a tribute to the Maison’s DNA—where form follows function and elegance is found in nuance. These sunglasses are not seasonal novelties; they are investment pieces for those who value craftsmanship, discretion, and performance.

What sets this collection apart is the innovation behind the lenses. The André, Icer, and Roadster models boast lenses infused with a curated blend of rare earth elements—neodymium, praseodymium, and erbium—designed to enhance visual clarity, colour vibrancy, and contrast. Crafted from superior optical glass and purified with platinum, these ultra-thin lenses—just 1.8 mm thick—provide unparalleled transparency while delivering 100% UV protection. Select versions also feature polarized lenses to reduce glare and provide sharper vision.

The Spagna and Traveller models are equally impressive, equipped with lenses that have been treated with hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings. These advanced treatments ensure resistance to water, oil, and smudges—marrying practicality with aesthetics. The Traveller lenses, in particular, offer the perfect balance between polarized protection and authentic colour perception, creating a viewing experience that is both soothing and crystal clear.

Every frame in the collection is an architectural feat. Made from titanium and hypoallergenic premium acetate, the frames are hand-assembled in Japan by master craftsmen. The production of a single pair involves up to 50 individual steps and can take as long as 41 weeks—a testament to the patience and precision involved in creating something extraordinary.

The process begins with a design phase rooted in the Maison’s visual language. Hand-drawn sketches evolve into detailed 3D renderings that guide the prototyping process. Japanese artisans then spend five months producing the acetate—a natural, biodegradable material derived from cellulose, harvested from select tree species and cotton linters. Through a series of treatments and refinements, the acetate is transformed into sheets of rich transparency and depth, capable of delivering monochrome or multicoloured finishes with a tactile luxury unmatched in the market.

The metal components of the frames are equally revered. From the 45-degree cut hinges that subtly house the Loro Piana “L|P” monogram and kummel hue, to the engraved wire core inspired by the brand’s signature herringbone pattern, every element is purposeful and poetic. The materials used are not only beautiful but engineered for strength, weightlessness, and durability. Flame-treated and polished through a delicate tumbling process using sand and wood, the metal achieves a smooth, gleaming finish that speaks of quiet luxury.

Meanwhile, in Italy, artisans take over the lens-cutting process with unrivalled finesse. Working with some of the finest glass in the world, the Italian lens-makers shape, polish, and treat each lens with multiple protective coatings. These include anti-reflective, water-repellent, and oil-repellent treatments to ensure visual purity and ease of maintenance. The lenses also come with a filter category marking, discreetly placed inside the temple, indicating the darkness of the lens and its protection level from visible light.

Final assembly takes place under the careful eyes of Italian experts, whose discerning hands bring together metal and acetate, lenses and frames, with impeccable symmetry. Each pair undergoes stringent quality control, ensuring that the final product meets the Maison’s standards of excellence and refinement.

The result is a collection of sunglasses that are not only beautifully constructed but deeply rooted in heritage and purpose. Unisex by design and unmistakably luxurious in execution, the Spring/Summer 2025 sunglasses by Loro Piana are the ultimate accessory for those who see the world through a lens of elevated taste.
