Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard Reveal 2025 Bathroom Trends: Timeless Elegance for the Modern Sanctuary

In an era where home spaces double as havens of well-being, Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard have unveiled their 2025 bathroom trend outlook—championing enduring design, natural materials, and elevated craftsmanship. Shaped by the creative visions of renowned designers Gesa Hansen, Christian Haas, and Roberto Palomba, the forecast signals a return to emotional functionality, tactile serenity, and conscious living.

At the heart of this vision is the belief that the bathroom is no longer just a place of function—it’s a private retreat that nurtures the soul. “The bathroom is the last truly private room in the home, which makes its design especially significant,” says Gesa Hansen. With this perspective, design becomes a tool for well-being. Villeroy & Boch’s new Skyla collection encapsulates this thinking, blending organic silhouettes with subtle asymmetry, soft transitions, and contemporary colour palettes that feel both personal and elevated.

Skyla’s signature washbasins are a masterclass in functional sculpture. The design merges precise outer lines with gentle internal curves to create balance and harmony. This isn’t form over function—clever built-in storage and seamless transitions between basin and vanity elevate practicality while maintaining a cohesive, clutter-free aesthetic. From Brilliant White to Nordic Oak, the collection is available in eight refined shades to suit a wide spectrum of styles.

The broader colour story for 2025 leans into “warm minimalism”—a soothing counterpoint to the stark contrasts of monochrome interiors. Soft anthracites, sandy beiges, and mid-toned greens invite warmth and calm into the bathroom. Villeroy & Boch’s Artis collection embraces this with new matte finishes like Teal, Almond, and Nightfall, offering bold yet grounded tones that bring depth and comfort to the space.

Complementing this is Ideal Standard’s Antao collection, where earthy hues like Morning Green and Matt Black are paired with nature-inspired furniture tones such as Leaf Green and Stone Grey. These palettes support the sensory experiences many now crave in a world increasingly shaped by digital interaction—spaces that feel, rather than just function.

Beyond colour, the brands spotlight a new approach to luxury—what Christian Haas and Roberto Palomba describe as “Quiet Luxury.” This is luxury rooted not in opulence but in lasting beauty, durability, and ethical responsibility. “The most important trend is the shift away from trends—towards things that last,” notes Haas. In this spirit, quality materials and timeless forms replace fleeting fads.

This ethos is powerfully embodied in Ideal Standard’s Alu+ range. Engineered from high-recycled-content aluminium and free from chrome and nickel, Alu+ sets a new standard for eco-conscious bathroom fixtures. Its water- and energy-saving credentials are matched by stylish finishes like the new brushed bronze, alongside a sleek square variation that expands the design vocabulary of sustainable interiors.

The designers behind these innovations have long shaped the modern bathroom narrative. Gesa Hansen’s talent for colour theory and minimalist woodwork, Christian Haas’s refined sensibility, and Roberto Palomba’s transformation of Ideal Standard’s design language speak to a collaborative mastery. Together, they propose not only what’s next—but what truly matters in a modern bathroom.

In 2025, Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard make it clear: the future of bathroom design lies in creating spaces that endure—emotionally, ethically, and aesthetically. Their vision for the modern sanctuary is one where calm is cultivated, personal style is celebrated, and sustainability is non-negotiable.
