Ermenegildo Zegna unveiled their Winter 2018 collection on the catwalk of their Snowriting Winter 2018 show in which outdoor spirit clashed with evolved tailoring, technology merged with tradition in a new expression of winter couture. Man versus nature aspect was emphasized in the winter 2018 show.
“I am interested in expanding traditional techniques, creating hybrid shapes that are apt for new uses, getting contemporary function out of traditional craft. We work around sartorial neologisms, which this season I have labeled with another neologism: Snowriting. Formal merges with informal in a sublime snowy scenario” – Alessandro Sartori, Artistic Director, Ermenegildo Zegna.
The color palette in the collection is inspired by the Oasis’s environment: a mix of neutral tones of edelweiss white, pebble grey, birch beige with notes of vicuña, bulb red, pine green and dashes of crocus purple, chanterelle yellow, azalea orange.
In keeping with the morphing of categories, the triple stitch XXX, a symbol of the manual craft of Ermenegildo Zegna Couture, is used extensively as a jacquard or a logo on the accessories such as technical leather bags and backpacks, while PELLE TESSUTATM comes for the first time in herringbone patterns on briefcases and bags.
Founded in 1910 by Ermenegildo Zegna, the company is the world leader in luxury men’s clothing, fine fabrics, accessories and fragrances.
