Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled Phantom Arabesque, a one-of-one Phantom Extended featuring the world’s first fully laser-engraved bonnet. Commissioned through Private Office Dubai, the motor car honours the Middle East’s architectural heritage through an intricate mashrabiya-inspired design. The newly patented technique, developed over five years, marks a significant evolution in Bespoke craftsmanship. The result is a flagship that blends technical innovation with cultural reverence.
Inspired by traditional mashrabiya latticework seen across historic homes and palaces throughout the Middle East, Phantom Arabesque translates architectural identity into automotive design. These carved wooden screens traditionally provided privacy, natural airflow and cooling — a harmony of beauty and function. Rolls-Royce reinterprets this geometric language through precise surface detailing. The commission becomes an architectural narrative expressed in motion.

At the centre of the project is the bonnet, engraved using a pioneering laser process perfected by the marque’s Exterior Surface Centre. Influenced by Italian sgraffito techniques, the method layers darker paint beneath lighter finishes before engraving to reveal tonal contrast. Each section is hand-finished to achieve sculptural consistency and depth. The surface subtly shifts under changing light, delivering a dynamic, tactile experience.
The exterior is presented in a Bespoke two-tone finish of Diamond Black and Silver, complemented by a hand-painted coachline carrying a mashrabiya motif. An illuminated Pantheon grille framed in Dark Chrome and an uplit Spirit of Ecstasy enhance its commanding presence. Twenty-two-inch part-polished alloy wheels complete the composition. Every detail contributes to a cohesive expression of contemporary luxury.

Inside, Phantom Arabesque continues its theme through the Gallery — a full-width fascia installation crafted from Blackwood and Black Bolivar wood. The marquetry artwork mirrors the geometric precision of mashrabiya design, forming an intricate visual centrepiece. An offset clock in a complementary dark tone provides subtle contrast. The cabin feels less like an interior and more like a curated design atelier.
The interior is finished in Selby Grey and Black leathers, accented with Black seat piping and carpets. Embroidered mashrabiya motifs adorn the front and rear headrests, while Starlight Doors trimmed with Selby Grey piping add luminous refinement. Illuminated treadplates featuring a cross-section of the bonnet engraving complete the immersive execution. Each element reinforces the architectural concept at every touchpoint.

Delivered to its commissioning client in the Middle East, Phantom Arabesque stands as a landmark Bespoke creation. It expands the craft vocabulary of Rolls-Royce by introducing laser engraving as a new surface discipline. More than a motor car, it is a study in heritage interpreted through innovation. Phantom Arabesque demonstrates how regional identity can be seamlessly elevated within the world of ultra-luxury motoring.
