Swiss watchmaker Hublot expands its design partnership with British creative Samuel Ross through the launch of the Big Bang Unico SR_A. Limited to 200 pieces, the new chronograph marks the first time Ross’s industrial design language has been paired with Hublot’s in-house Unico manufacture movement. The release signals a new chapter in a collaboration that began with sculptural tourbillon editions and now evolves into a more widely accessible format.
The Big Bang Unico SR_A features a 42mm satin-finished and polished black ceramic case, reinforcing the all-black philosophy that has become integral to Hublot’s identity. The monochrome execution amplifies the architectural clarity of the Big Bang’s modular construction. With a thickness of 14.5mm and water resistance to 100 metres, the watch balances robust performance with urban refinement.

At the centre of the design sits Ross’s signature honeycomb motif, interpreted through a newly developed structured rubber strap created exclusively for this reference. The geometric pattern enhances ventilation while introducing a sculptural, industrial texture. The lightweight yet rugged construction reflects Ross’s focus on structural forms and engineered surfaces, aligning seamlessly with Hublot’s Art of Fusion ethos.
The matte black skeleton dial reveals the technical depth of the HUB1280 Unico calibre. Visible from the dial side, the column wheel underscores the chronograph architecture, while the flyback functionality enables instant reset and restart. The self-winding movement operates at 4Hz and delivers a 72-hour power reserve, combining Swiss silicon escapement technology with five patented innovations that enhance reliability and precision.

Comprising 354 components and 43 jewels, the Unico movement stands as one of Hublot’s most recognisable mechanical signatures. Its front-facing chronograph construction creates visual dynamism while maintaining accuracy within -2/+4 seconds per day. The transparent sapphire caseback further exposes the black-plated tungsten oscillating weight, reinforcing the technical aesthetic.
This edition arrives at a meaningful moment as Hublot celebrates the twentieth anniversary of its first All Black timepiece. By integrating Ross’s design philosophy with the Unico platform, the collaboration shifts toward a more versatile and wearable chronograph while retaining its experimental edge. The combination of ceramic engineering, industrial codes and in-house mechanics defines a new benchmark within the partnership.

The Big Bang Unico SR_A positions itself at the intersection of contemporary culture and high watchmaking. It embodies stealth, structural integrity and mechanical performance in equal measure. With its all-black execution and distinctive honeycomb architecture, the watch reinforces Hublot’s standing as a manufacture where design experimentation and technical mastery coexist.
