‘Unseen Potential’ – Art from Automobile Scrap

  • September 24, 2018
  • 2 minute read

Al Tayer Motors staged for the second time, a unique exhibit of some truly stunning works of art made by recycling discarded automobile parts and scrap material titled ‘Unseen Potential.’

Al Tayer Motors, established in 1982, represents major European and American automobile manufacturers, Land Rover, Jaguar, Maserati, Ferrari, Lincoln, Ford and Ford Trucks, across the UAE. In Abu Dhabi, Al Tayer Motors represents the marques through Premier Motors.

The art objects on display at the ‘Unseen Potential’ exhibition were the result of an internal competition organised for the technicians of Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors. They were on display at the dealership’s Sheikh Zayed Road showroom in Dubai between September 14 and 22 and were open to everyone, especially art lovers and automotive enthusiasts.

Visitors could even place bids for their favourite pieces, a new feature added in response to keen interest from customers to buy many works of art created for the previous competition. The proceeds raised by the exhibition will support UAE- approved charitable causes.

“This is the second time we have organised such a competition, and once again it witnessed enthusiastic participation from our talented technicians who have created some remarkable pieces of art. It is a fantastic example of our employees living two of the company’s core values – Diversity and Quality – considering the wide range of art pieces produced and the creativity that has gone into making them.” – Boulos Massoud, Senior Vice President Aftersales, Al Tayer Motors.

More than 350 technicians from 11 locations across the UAE participated in the two-month long contest designed to enhance their teamwork and highlight their artistic abilities. Together they created nearly 90 art objects from the seemingly unusable material using their imagination to tap into the hidden potential in the waste. Working during their spare time, the teams of technicians fashioned some spectacular creations such as animal figures, vehicles, insects, flowers, birds, musical instruments, robots, and more.

“Fostering a work culture that recognises employees for their efforts and providing opportunities to display their talents plays a strong role in creating a happy workforce. This, in turn, spurs them to put in their best to ensure customer satisfaction, resulting in a win-win situation for everyone,” explained Massoud.

The art pieces can be viewed via www.altayermotors.com/unseenpotential and also via their social media presences.
