Celebrate India’s 78th Independence Day with Tricolour Feasts Across Dubai and Abu Dhabi

This August 15th marks the 78th anniversary of India’s independence, and two of the UAE’s most beloved Indian dining destinations are serving up patriotic plates in style. From fine dining sophistication to homely Punjabi comfort, Punjab Grill and Dhaba Lane are offering limited-time tricolour menus that honour the Indian flag while delighting the palate.

At the ultra-luxurious Anantara Downtown Dubai and The Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal Abu Dhabi, Michelin Guide-recognised Punjab Grill is presenting two dishes designed to embody the saffron, white, and green of the Tiranga. Guests can choose between the Chicken Tikka Sampler, bursting with tandoori smokiness, or the Paneer Roulade on Makhani Saag, a creamy vegetarian indulgence. Both plates are available for AED 78, a symbolic nod to India’s 78 years of independence, down from their usual AED 89.

This one-day culinary celebration is a blend of royal Indian hospitality and modern presentation, bringing together rich spices, elegant plating, and an atmosphere befitting the occasion. Whether for a family gathering, a couple’s dinner, or simply a solo treat, Punjab Grill’s Independence Day offering is a tasteful way to mark the milestone.

Meanwhile, Dhaba Lane, a homegrown favourite known for reimagining classic roadside Punjabi flavours, is going all out with its Tiranga Thali. Available in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, the platter features a colourful spread of starters, curries, rice, and bread—each reflecting the tricolour theme. Highlights include Papadi Chaat, Taksali Paneer Tikka, Murgh Lababdar, and the indulgent Khaas Aam Kheer. Priced at AED 55, the thali is perfect for sharing and is available from August 14th to 17th across all four branches.

Adding to the festive cheer, Dhaba Lane is offering complimentary Tiranga Shots—a refreshing layered drink in saffron, white, and green—served alongside the meal during the promotion period. It’s a small but thoughtful touch that enhances the celebratory spirit.

While Punjab Grill’s offering is all about refined fine dining in opulent surroundings, Dhaba Lane brings a more casual, hearty charm to the celebration. Between the two, diners have the chance to experience both ends of the Indian culinary spectrum during the Independence Day week.

Whether you’re craving the grandeur of a Michelin-recognised kitchen or the soulful flavours of a modern dhaba, these tricolour tributes promise a memorable way to honour India’s 78th Independence Day in the UAE—one delicious bite at a time.
