Arnold & Son Unveils the Perpetual Moon 41.5 “Year of the Horse” in Red Gold

Arnold & Son continues its celebrated Chinese Zodiac series with the unveiling of the Perpetual Moon 41.5 Red Gold “Year of the Horse,” a poetic tribute to the Fire Horse that will define the lunar cycle beginning in 2026. Produced in a highly limited edition, this timepiece reflects the manufacture’s ability to merge astronomical watchmaking with refined artistic craftsmanship, resulting in a watch that is as expressive as it is technically accomplished.

The dial presents a dramatic nocturnal tableau in which a rearing horse dominates the landscape beneath a starlit sky. Executed as a hand-engraved appliqué in red gold, the horse appears alive with motion, its form set against black aventurine glass that evokes the depth and shimmer of the night sky. Hand-painted details and luminous accents suggest sparks and embers trailing the animal, a visual metaphor for the Fire Horse’s untamed energy and incandescent spirit.

As light fades, the scene transforms. Subtle applications of luminescent material bring the composition to life after dark, revealing glowing embers, constellations, and a radiant moon rendered in mother-of-pearl. The astronomical moon-phase display, a signature of the Perpetual Moon collection, anchors the dial and reinforces the watch’s celestial theme, uniting symbolism, artistry, and technical precision in a single visual narrative.

At its heart beats a manually wound manufacture calibre developed and assembled entirely in-house. Engineered for exceptional lunar accuracy, the movement is designed to mirror the true lunar cycle with remarkable fidelity over decades. Twin barrels provide a long power reserve, while meticulous finishing across bridges, plates, and components reflects Arnold & Son’s commitment to traditional Swiss watchmaking excellence.

Encased in red gold with elegant proportions, the Perpetual Moon 41.5 “Year of the Horse” stands as a collector’s piece that transcends seasonal trends. It is a watch conceived not only to mark the passage of time, but to celebrate myth, astronomy, and artistic savoir-faire—an enduring expression of how fine watchmaking can capture cultural heritage within a timeless mechanical form.
